Aug/Sept pretty much when all the bait fish/salmon/tuna are in. Sea
Bird are in by the thousands.

Keep yourself out of the water, rescue any down kiters and be aware of high tides.

I've posted tons about sharks out on the coast, I wasn't trying to scare anyone with big fish tales.

THANKS FOR POSTING your experience. It's pretty awesome and very real.

BTW, the S. Jetty is probably infested this time of year, the Columbia River Trench is a very common place to find them hunting.

went fishing out at westport on friday and caught tons of coho. we had problems of running into mackerel schools over and over again and taking our bate. those sure are fast little buggers! We also saw a sunfish which has gotta be the weirdest looking fish I've ever seen and it was huge too!

all this was only about 6 miles off the coast of westport. to give you an idea of how close that is I could still see the white of the waves breaking on the shore and windows on the buildings.

both sunfish and mackerel are warm water fish....

sounds like there's lots of food in the ocean close to shore right now Shocked

no I am pretty sure they prefer the strapless kind of board riders thats why surfers are a staple.

those fools who ride with straps don't drag around prevoking the sharks they just ride and ride and ride. Rolling Eyes

True that would really strengthen the kiting gene pool! Sharks like straps. mmmmm...

I'm pretty sure the sharks know that the strapped riders are weak and lazy, easier targets.
Plus, I hear they can smell the stank coming from a strapped rider's yellow belly for miles...

I'm pretty sure we all look like this when were body dragging back to our boards.

I'll always opt for straps W/ heel straps or boots so I can minimize the amount of trolling for sharks Laughing

wow that does look tasty!

although I hear the best part is what's riding on top.

I would imagine the quality has gone down over the last few years with the change in diet.

all the energy drinks make the meat a little dry.

nothing like the good ol' stuff marinated in beer Razz

btw check out my new kiteboard. its a door style hahaha

holy shit chanson, never thought of the morphius as a lure. pretty f..ing scaring thinking back to the five hours we spent in the water saturday at manzo on that thing. water was warmer than i have ever experienced at the coast.

also, my girlfriends dad was fishing friday at longbeach and saw two 6 foot sharks close to the beach where people were hanging out. crazy!

I was working my way upwind to the Iredale boat wreck today and came upon a 2 1/2 to 3 foot dorsal sitting still in the water.
Turn and burn.

Not sure if it was a salmon shark or white---but def big.
