Nak, you said big ass shark? If the Seals were jumping out of the water it was definitively big, not that I would have taken any time to figure out what it was, but did you or could you tell if it was a White Shark?
Fuck'n sweet. Go buy a power ball ticket as you are one lucky guy to get to experience that. _________________ MS |

Maybe you were drunk and saw a sea urchin and thought it was a shark. Nick nak give that pig a bone |
Nak, don't bother feeding the trolls, just ignore them and they eventually go away. |

Yeah Jim, I know. Especialy one too stupid to use the search feature before he posts. No worries though, hell of a day! Never thought I'd be getting drunk feeding the squirrels with 20 knots of wind blowing right outside my door! I guess I'm a chickenshit too today! It's wierd, I know intelectually that it's no big deal, if the water tastes salty there's bound to be sharks. Just an emotional thing... I was planning on hitting the bay anyway tomorrow. MMMMmmm, butter! |

No idea what kind. Great story to say great White, but I haven't a clue. Really, I don't think it's lucky, I think he was just curious. I've seen whales, seals, dolphins, etc. First shark really close. Just freaked me out. It shouldn't have, but it did. |

Who do I report it to? The Newport Aquarium? Not sure who to call, getting drunk quickly... |
I think kss posted the Pacific Coast Shark Research Committee link. Reports help them with thier research efforts.

Story sounds right on to me - When there is a lot of action in the water, you can bet something is getting chomped on. Circling birds are a good tip off some feeding is taking place as well.
BTW Nak - I'm sure the shark was just curious, but during shark week they told a story of a boy attacked while being towed on a surfboard by a ski - pretty close to kitesurfing IMO - so it's possible. They said sharks are attracted by movement, and they can pretty much haul ass, as you just confirmed. Last edited by boardrider on Mon Aug 17, 09 4:15 pm; edited 2 times in total |

Nope Nak, your correct, it should have freaked you out. bottom line is that when we enter the ocean, we moved south on the food chain. cool experiance, but I don't ever really want it to happen to me.
Very cool experiance. Buy a lottery ticket..... |

| We all have watched shark week. The story is believeable minus the shark. I'll bet you anything the old cock sucker was alone, he's the only one that saw the shark and he told no one til he got a buzz and got back to his lap top and decided to make up a story while watching the discovery channel. Good story though. Chumps, go play some d and d |

Yeah, I agree it is kinda weird that it followed you given that there were a bunch of seals in the area which it knows are delicious. Guess it's one of those sharks that would rather try something new than keep eating bacon every day. Great to hear you made it back no problem. Did you try boosting to confuse it? I bet it's used to seals jumping a few feet outta the water but a nice and floaty 20-30ft boost woulda been new for sure. Plus then you can check it out from above and see how big it really is
I always know there's sharks out there, but have been lucky enough not to encounter any so far, especially on the long float when the wind died. I'm sure it's one thing to know they're there and another to have one follow you around.
Did see a killer whale once though. That was pretty sweet.
Enjoy your drinks, you've earned it! _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

Damn Nak, what u thinkin? I know you are an intelligent man, you've even computed the relative boyancy of helium vs. air in your bladders, but don't you know seals DON'T FLY.
Holy crap Nakman! Glad your around to tell, LMFAO at your write up and punkbitches ignorance. |

No boosting, I just hauled ass to shore. Really, it probably wasn't all that far that he followed me. It just seemed that way. Joanne was watching through binoculars, the seals started jumping again pretty quick, so I'm guessing he was back on them like stink on shit. Maybe a hundred yards or a bit more to the shore break after I saw him following me? Seemed to take a long time but really couldn't have been too long at the speed I was going. Just freaky to look back and see him following that close. I didn't think they could swim that fast for more than a quick sprint.
BTW, reported to the shark research committee website. |

| Ok you fat old fuck... Here it is. The wind was at a high of 17mph. You're fat ass was on an 11m kite. There for A.you weren't going that fast. B.why would a shark go after you with waters abundant in seals. C. D river is a huge tourist attraction and we all know If your bitch ass saw a real 15 foot predator you would have rushed the shore screaming like a little punk bitch. 15 foot is a huge fish and you know this didn't happen. I was just there and yeah, sea lions are everywhere. I am sure there are sharks but not 15 foot and none you saw. This would be huge news if you would have seen it and I am sure coast guard would have pulled surfers over a fish of that size. They would have seen that from air guarenteed. I know If that happened to me I would have cleared that whole beach for the day. Net you almost got hit by a train to huh? Did it chase you as well? Fuck you ya old cunt |

Please ban Hollyfist the merciful. He has less than 10 posts and he is completely agro. We have enough agro members on this forum - do we really need another?
True story - I was out at the beach the other day and this guy was telling me about this other kiting forum - told me I should check it out - that it wasn't all agro - you know, like nwkite.
Do we really want this forum to be known as the agro forum?
Lets put an end to this. Lets start by banning hollyfist.
Does anyone else agree that we should ban hollyfist? _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |
