It's important to note that Steve Gates (Big Winds) attended some early meetings we held and proposed solutions that would work for Big Winds, and Brian's Windsurfing and the Hood River Cable Park. We all left this meeting feeling motivated and positive about the cable park project.

Steve has been a model citizen/business owner in terms of participating in this process in a manner that promotes solutions that work for everyone, rather than division and finger pointing.

Lets not lump him or Big Winds in with the "Friends"

In ept is inept. Steve is a great guy and huge contributer to the community.
Do some homework before you attempt to start and riff...dude.
Hats off to Steve for standing up and giving his opinion. Hats off to everyone that gives their opinion.
Makes me wonder how old In ept is. Rolling Eyes

If you listed the top ten people/businesses that contributed to making Hood River a great town....
Steve Gates/Big Winds would be on my list.

Good point. I prefer to have a cable park rather than support a local business which helps kids (including your own) have fun.

I think a cable park sounds cool, but don't really want to live in a town where everyone is a pissed off d!ck about everything, boycotting local businesses, and arguing about who gets to float where. Living in the hood is cool, not because of all the wind, water, and mountains, but because of the community and how we all hang and support each other.

Oh, and it's also cool because of the wind, water, and mountains.

Someone needs to let the friends know this because they are the ones who want to boycott something, we are just trying to come to a solution that works for everyone. I would hope that a shop with such great leadership and track record for doing good would recognize that there is a viable solution to this problem instead of hampering progress by taking a negative stance against the cable park.

Remind us again as to what your proposal is for a "...solution that works for everyone" ?

Our proposal is not the lowest common denominator. The leadership of the opposition is dramatically failing to see anything but the lcd as working for everyone. They point fingers at us calling us selfish, but the opposition is guilty of this as well. They have failed to attempt to work with us, creating the situation we are in today.

Trent, How could we when we have constantly been told by the opposition that no solution that involves a cable park would work for them? Where does that leave us? It leaves us in a headbutting battle.

We have offered to discuss shrinking the length of the park which was dismissed by the opposition and no further negotiations took place.
