My aforementioned cracked ribs would not have been cracked had I access to an impact vest. The helmet debate is an emotional thing on this forum, but my vote is for beginners to wear one. When you learn to kite, you start out on land and/or close to shore, so it's not often water you hit when things go awry. (I also know of a case where an instructor let a student take off his helmet in deep water and the student hit the instructor's jet ski with his skull hard enough to concuss). |

Monkey, I agree that a gojo can be used as a crutch. However, it doesn't necessarily have to be a crutch. There are plenty of riders that get separated from their boards - experienced and inexperienced. Just look in the lost and found section - plenty of launches with a strong current can take a board quickly. I also remember you got seperated from your board at Sauvies and Kramer found it. If you would have had a gojo it would have taken him less time to look for it.
You should try mine out - you might like it _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

Why won't you answer where you live? Chooch has asked (politely) twice? |

Forget GoJoe and buy yourself a GoJack patented satellite tracking system. Even recovers stolen boards!
PM me and I'll tell you where to send payments... |

Ben you live less than an hour from some of the best kiteboarding in the Northeast! Cape Cod and Rhode Island both have great conditions and a bunch of schools in operation. Check out www.masskiting.com for some local info. There is a good bunch of guys there and I am sure they will get you dialed in.
On a side note...beach access for kiteboarders in New England is very delicate and the group is constantly being threatened with shutting down beach access. I can guarantee you that learning on your own will not be tollerated by the locals because you are putting their beach access at risk. I will PM you some local contacts that may be willing to help you out along the way.

Come on guys, cowboy up, lesson, who needs them, read. A book, watch a video, trial by fire.
Do you needs lessons to have a baby? Where does it end,
Did you take a lesson monkey person? _________________ Where its wet and windy |

If it was only yourself you put in danger I would say go for it...Unfortunately there are often innocent bystanders or other kiters around that you could potentially injure. If you want to give it a go on your own just make sure there is no one else around.
Tomahawk me and you avoidance of spending money by foregoing lessons just got a LOT more expensive. |

Ok for reel i literally scout the beaches of the cape hoping to meet up with kiter's and nothing. I also searched the web for locals and found nothing, but my computer skills suck. |
