still hard to imagine someone would sneak up to your rig by the grass and swipe a broken kite (that would take some balls)

Definitely stupid to leave it out all night

it was there (being across the parking lot sitting in the grass) at 6:30AM and gone at 7AM - it was windless - it was far enough away to easily grab and drive off

I feel bad I didn't go and pack it up (still in a haze at 6:30am but pretty sure I didn't dream the whole thing)

Sure sounds like it was stolen.

I have experienced multiple thefts in the general vicinity of Flo. Car windows getting smashed, stuff left in a secluded spot for a few minutes walking off, etc. No offense to you and your neighbors Blowhard, but giving folks the impression that the southern coast is a low-crime area sounds totally wrong to me. Stuff gets boosted around there, just like in the valley.

I think if you're down the jetty relatively close to the ocean then there is a special "no theft" mojo going on. My car's unlocked, my kites/boards/bags left out, etc. Never a problem. Don't ask me why, but there, stuff seems safe.

But I think you guys were just too exposed where you had the RV parked. Crime of opprotunity type thing. Bummer.

On the plus side, some great riding was had, and it was nice to share the stoke with y'all again.

FWIW, my driver side door lock got ganked Saturday afternoon at the north end of the area B parking lot in Ft. Stevens.

Looked like someone jammed a flat head screw driver in it pretty hard, but did not get the door open (go Honda!). What's amazing is that the area was busy with people and kiters. There was nothing in my car in view worth taking!

There were cars all around me packed with gear...some even unlocked...and they chose to thrash my door! Sad

For the record Slither, there are no unlocked vehicles at lot B. Why that would be foolish Laughing

trust in Allah, but tie up your camel Wink

No harm done, especially as we all survived with arms and legs attached. This is an expensive hobby that few people on earth have the money or time to enjoy so forever grateful, especially after that last wave and surfacing just in time for a breath. Love the SC and will come back next year if blowhard is cool with it. Wink

any other coastal pics from the weekend? No pics of kiting here unfortunately, but parting shot of the jetty at sunset...

Had my wetsuit stolen off my review mirror when sleeping in the back of my truck in '95 on the S jetty...had to watch my buddies score epic waves all morning from the rocks

Festers arent new to the OR coast...and they just keep on making more

it was a blast come anytime
no offense intended ,but the bad mojo is for sure
not something to be taken lightly
like pjc says never on the jetty,
but for sure other tourist locales get hit
and yes I think there is a lot less crime in my hood.

only because of the last 25 years of leaving my shit all around at night and day, when gone and there and never anything touched and all my pals same thing.

It seems in poor taste(bad mojo) to think it was stolen without evidence and then to see dewds all around the state ranking the local shit because of one unknown incident where no one saw anything.

An example yesterday was Nate had his new S.S. super duper bar go bad on the outside after a couple hours of use (right where you said Jason)so rather than fuk with it he "gave it to the fishes"
a hour later I noticed a tourist with bar and lines in his hands
heading for the trash I would assume
I guess I might assume the same thing in your shoes C.
but would rather assume it was in the trash

Like Colby said we are lucky to participate in this expensive sport. The thrill of dropping into 20 foot waves will live with me for the rest of my life, and I will keep chasing it!

Thanks Colby for providing the mobile lodging for the big trip!!! I owe you buddy.

Oh and mega props to the whole crew that came down. I'm especially impressed by Gene and Gman, they have a lot of ocean experience on strapless boards and it shows. I think they sessioned the big waves twice as long as me on average. Its really awesome to see them thrive out there, some inspiration to keep pushing it!
