Morning update: Colby's kite gone, 9m stolen by some surfers in a White Suburban Evil or Very Mad

We're down two 9m's and we still have two more days to survive!

Full story on mine: Lost board and chased it all the way to the jetty, attempted to remount it, and got hit by a wave, same time kite went down behind jetty (no wind there) wouldn't relaunch and got sucked in the rip current right into it. A few DOH waves later its in shreds.

Next concern was not getting flushed out the jetty rip into the ocean. Swam out of the rip and managed to swim in from there.

Super big thanks to crew that came to get all my gear off the Jetty!

The kite is a total loss, I'll post some more photos of it. Maybe Airtime can hang it on their wall "The one that couldn't be saved..."

Sucks about the kite PKH but at least it left you in an honorable way. I feel bad for Colby. People stealing another man's shit is the bottom of the food chain.

Can't believe those fuckers stole the kite. If they're really surfers they'll probably be back at some point. Maybe notify the locals and police? That way justice can be served (whether it's of the legal kind or not).

Gman put the word out earlier....here's a picture of the kite but it's torn from yesterday's adventure.

It's a beautiful day on the coast otherwise and looks like 7m weather today so lucked out ....will take photos from the jetty later if possible.

Previous expierence in this situation ,,

Some ding dong (starts with a C ends with a ly) leaves his kite (broken pos)in the gravel
parking lot when it's blowing 40 ,
hop in the rv and start drinkin (humungous barrels dewd)
sometime later some on the way home other local kiters notice a kite drifting off down the
gravel ,,(last seen a 150 yards from said rv)

get up in the am
and it's
GONE!
gee whiz

early the next day,
some hapless surfers roll by and get the blame ,,,,,,,,,,,

might try looking in the estuary
that is south of there for 50 miles!!!!!!!!!!!

i can just see some poor seal choking to death on the inedible said kite

I doubt the craiglist uni-thief would know what a kite is (this is the boondocks)
and what would surfers do with it?
I'd look for it ,,,
but I'm out of money from mailing shit back to pdx Laughing

end of thorough investigation Laughing
case closed Idea
yer shit is in the bushes Cool

Nice blowhard...is this a territory thing?

The kite was in the grass near the rig in the AM with no wind...gman took a walk up the jetty, turned around and came back and it was gone...only one car seen, but even so didn't bother with the police as we couldn't be 100% sure, but gman touched based with some friends in the area just in case...that's what happened. It's my fault for leaving it out, yes... mea culpa!

Otherwise, what an incredible trip and end to the summer. Hope everyone got to enjoy it.

I think the Blowhard was believing too much of what he was thinking.....

Glad you guys survived the daily sharks , kite carnage and rednecks driving on the beach.

Looks like 10 foot swell next friday that should get the balls cinched up tight.

We will try to keep an eye out for the kite , wether its in the weeds or getting traded for it. Twisted Evil

FYI, noticed the Newport buoy saw 8.5' @ 19s swell after 3pm on Friday. Not sure how the rest of the weekend panned out, but that explains the bombers on Friday.

Saturday morning there was a shark sighting at South Beach and it was nearly nuked out by the end of the afternoon, with tripple overhead waves Shocked. I'd say there were about 20 kites out and only 3 twintips (including myself), really fun day!

It was very windy and very wavy (triple overheads).

A gust broke the end off my 17" bar & snapped the lines as well while grabbing a few last tacks behind the jetty!

Didn't drown / get eaten - good day! Very Happy

who cares when its 10.5 @ 13 seconds

though we truly enjoyed Genek's bold statement - he would blow Forrest's dead carcass if the shark got him

also props to Stevenson Jay, Mark the pole smoker and Forrest for first surfers in the water Sunday - very dangerous, after you...

more or less a territory thing ,,calling my neighbors thieves

perhaps pushed the edge for someone by leaving it out ,

still hard to imagine someone would sneak up to your rig by the grass and swipe a broken kite (that would take some balls)

Iv'e been coming here a long time and this is the first theft I or anyone else can recall , ,,
after so many theft stories on the northern part of the state

We would not enjoy that here.

not saying it wasn't stolen ,
but I've seen plenty stuff blown away (if it reads 40 at the sensors where you were parked it's 10 more mph.)
