Tried a couple different combos of bindings / boards this weekend. It wasn't my first time in boots but I did come to a few new conclusions that I thought would be good to share...

- The slider is soooooo much easier in boots. With straps its like trying to ice skate in flip flops, with boots you really connect to the thing.

- My 129 Lunacy is not a boots board, its way too small. My feet are nearly on the tips of the tips of the board, the thing constantly wants to pearl.

- I tried Henry's 132 Lunacy with his some what old school rear entry boots (work kind of like flow bindings.) I actually liked these a lot for ease of getting in and out of. They weren't really my size though. The 132 was much nicer to ride in boots.

- I don't think I am a fan of closed toe boots.

- I can ride way more efficently in straps just because of the angles I can put on the board.

- Had some trouble getting my feet up high in a raley, could be just cause I am a n00b. The wakestyle moves I see most people pulling in boots look a lot nicer then what I could do.

- Crashes in boots were a lot harder, reminded me of wakeboarding.

- They don't fit in my box with my surfboard, skimboard, skateboard, and wife board. Piper does not seem to dig them taking up space in her area of the car. Hmmm...

I really want to get the full wakestyle setup going. A higher rocker board, boots, maybe even a C kite (da duhn duhn!) Its nice to have some variety in riding styles, though it gets tiresome carrying around so much specalty gear all the time (gets expensive too.)

I recently made the jump to boots as well. I was going to post my thoughts on them...as soon as I get the feeling back to the left side of my face Laughing

Phil, all your concerns will go away with a little bit of time and experience.

Yeah what Forrest said, I had issues loading and poping when I first got my boots. After a couple good sessions everything works itself out. Its just like getting a new kite, you know its better than what you were flying before you just have to get used to it.

I take my boots off almost every session unless I am in a rush, it takes 2 min to take em off and 2 min to put em back on. Saves a ton of space in the rocket box/trunk. Plus it ensures that your screws are always torqued down tight Smile

Hadlow was riding boots this weekend. PKRA would suck for sliders not a good format. The only good format for slider competitions is in jam formats like the triple S.

Yea, you'll get used to it. Most important is to remember to let go of the bar when things are looking like they're not going to work out.

Yeah eating shit is worse no doubt in boots. Nothing a few beers after a session can't fix. But I couldn't tell you how many high ankel sprains I had last year trying powered unhooked moves in straps. Both from the lack of support and one foot coming out mid air at mach 3. Not a fun or safe way to crash at all. Confused

My worst crash was a hooked in front roll that I only made it half way around on, ouch... lesson learned: don't ever hook in!

I saw Chooch do a nice head ringer coming in blind last weekend.

I guess at least with boots there is little chance of the board flying up and hitting you in the teeth.

And I was just thinking about getting a pair of boots. I don't know if I have the balls.

I fucking love my boots so far. They are soo comfy , no more adjusting your feet and getting toe cramps. You can also edge and carve like a mofo and your not just using ur ankles it's the whole lower leg. If you catch an edge it's going to sting but a whole lot less than a board to the shin. Lastly when you land a jump it feels so good, you can feel the Cush of the footbed and even better, the support of your whole foot/ankle.
The real benefit is thepower and pop u can get. I threw by far my biggest railey ever on Sunday, came in super hot........CUSH. Then I caught an edge hooking back in and couldn't feel my face.
Are they for everyone? Nope
If you like to charge it though, you should try them out.
I got the new synergys and I'm digging them.
