| Quote: | | BTW, does anyone want a (pratically) brand new Shaun Murray Hyperlite Wakeboard/Bindings? $200... I have used the thing twice... I will put it up in classifieds. Got to raise some funds if I am going to get some kite wake gear like the the cool kids. |
Thats funny Phil, I've got that exact wakeboard (slightly more use on it tho) and have been thinking the same thing lately!
oh and the clown boots....have yall seen Snowboard boots for '10?

Haha, that's actually part of the reason I got them initially since I wasn't sure how flex profiles would compare, but now I love em. Boots for '09 have definitely improved a lot.

Just got a sneak peak at what's in store for 2010 gear yesterday at the Sandbar. The LF team was out shooting photos for the catalog. Both Sleezy and Mauricio's boards are awesome, and both were on LTD bindings. Looked like Sleezy was on Shane LTDs and Mauricio was on Watson LTDs. The LTD bindings are amazing... Integrated baseplate and big fat airbags under the whole foot for hard landings. Thew new bar looks awesome too. Damn, kiting gear is getting so good.
The new boards will have a insert spread based on wakeboard industry standards so you can mount up just about any wakeboard boot. Cabrinha has already gone this route as well.

Can't resist adding my $.02
Nothing against anyone or their brand.. but pkh and others... there is only one brand wtih removable liners and they have not been in wake very long... removable liners are not the standard and yes, even the faithful that wear them complain.
I saw Laura Maher yesterday at the sandbar hucking it in her SS boots and saw her throw the most legit shit I've seen her do in 6 years of knowing her!! She knew it too and was STOKED on her boots!
The easiest bindings right now to kite in are the LF synergy's. Soft flex profile (softer than the shane fruit boots) and SUPER EASY to get into. I have demo's available for anyone wanting to try them out and they are available to check out at 2nd Wind.
Yes.. LF has some SICK stuff coming. By adopting the 6" insert spread (as Cabrinha has done for 09 and Naish will also for 2010) it allows LF kite access to all of the LF wake tech and tooling... so we decided not to F around and went straight to the top of the line LF wake tech for our new kite boots!
New 2010 LF Kite boots will be built on the current LF wake limited FLY chassis and will be an adaptation of the current Shane limited.
There will be both open and closed toe LF kite boots in 2010.
FYI.. the Shane LF wake boot, in all it's fruity glory is one of the most popular boots in the line. Europe LOVES the 80's windsurfing look these days, celebrating bright colors... and purchasing accordingly.
I bought a set of Soven boots, similar flex to shane, but black/red/white. I love the look, but prefer the shane feel.

I'm stoked on the Synergies for sure. They are nice and flexy. More flexy side to side than back and forth but that is what I was worried about really. I still had to drill out the binding a little to fit my CF raptor board but it only took about 5 minutes with a drill and small file to clean stuff up.
In terms of getting into them, I am on the upper end of the size range for the large (size 12 foot and did NOT buy the XL)-- Tekko, you guys should update the sizing info, I was going to go for the XL until I came across one of your kitescoop posts. Anywho, when getting into them, it really helps for me to grab the tongue when first trying to get into the boots and not the handle on the back of the boot. If I go handle first, then the tongue gets a little clujey on me and I have to go back to grabbing the tongue and then the back of the boot again. hope this makes sense...

So I finally got a chance to try Forrest's closed toe Liquid Force Shane boots this weekend. I had 2 powered to overpowered sessions on them. I am currently riding last years LF Escalade bindings and what a difference! The closed toes helped me edge even harder and pop even higher than my escalades. They gave me way more controll over the board which really gave me a lot more confidence in my riding. The were much stiffer (in a good way) than my current bindings which made evertything better throughout my trick. Better loading and poping and a much more controlled landing due to the extra hold down. I was sold on the boots after 15 min on them. Can't wait to get my new pair.
And to touch on what PDXMB said about the sand, I found that I get way more sand in my escalades than I did in the closewd toe. Once I was in the closed toe shanes there was nothing coming in or coming out of em.

I slipped on Forrest's closed toe Shane's on the beach this weekend... didn't get a chance to ride them but just from what I could tell on the beach they fit my foot better then the other brand and were nice on and off.
I tried a board from the other brand I really liked though, time for some mix and match
