when someone is giving us a friendly reminder
thought this was an open public forum--can't talk about dogs or their shit/behavior?
the thread that was locked should have been stickied at the top

there is dog shit everywhere down there!!!
i love dogs, have owned them, and have many friends that own them
but hood river has one of the most irresponsible dog ownership populations that me or my wife have ever seen

i don't care about the leash thing
just clean up after them, and don't get upset if someone points it out as a problem
cause it is

You would think that this topic would be worthy of an open and civil debate, but the last dog poop thread didn't turn out that way: http://www.nwkite.com/forums/t-13226.html

couldn't agree more the thing is,

Phil ain't about creating animosity among kiters(this ain't no public forum,it's Phils forum)
which plenty is stirred here at time.

Expierence tells us that this is not a winnable debate
so why create more hard feelings ?

BTW my(wifes) dog never pisses on kites Laughing

If someone wants to write up a dog guide for the spit I would be happy to sticky it.

not tryin to create hard feelings or animosity
i jus want people to be responsible dog owners
more concerned about my health
and how pissed off i'll be at some dog cause his shit got on my kite(it has happened to me last year) somebodies dog took a shit on my kite bag while i was kiting

and i was jus askin why we gotta lock threads that should be actually takin to heart

awe fuck it nobody cares -- goin kiting
i love calling the sandbar---- dog shit beach----it just rolls off the tongue better

one question
if a dog shits, and the owner doesn't pick it up, is it more fair to wipe the shit on the dog or the dog owners car. either way the owner will have to deal with it for once.
i am so fed up, that this is the point it has brought me to

I think its not a bad idea to call these folks out in person...

Dog shit spit Very Happy

I'm serious about a dog guide, if someone wants to write it up I will sticky (and then lock Wink ) Otherwise, its just not too helpful...

Every dog thread starts and ends the same way. Besides I am not convinced most the problem owners check the forum anyway.

In terms of a dog guide, doesn't the port have rules already?

Dogs on leashes except an hour before/hour after sunset/sunrise and pick up after your dog.

the problem I see is that there are good dogs off leash and bad dogs. Like many things in life, the bad dogs will likely ruin it for the good dogs.

I've got nothing against dogs at all but I can say that when I step in a pile of shit, or there is dog jumping through my lines and getting tangled when I'm trying to launch (two weeks ago) the thought that mostly runs through my head is "this is bullshit".

You sure its dog shit you have been stepping into? Recently I have decided to start taking dumps on the sand spit and then wipe my *ss with some sand. Don't really feel the need to pick it up either Rolling Eyes

no shit ,
enough with the new rules

once a dog ran through my lines as my kite launched
picked it up a bit and spun it around
kinda scary (for the dog) Laughing Very Happy

mebbe if Or. went broke like Ca. there'd be no enforcement.

and we could all run free
like dogs Twisted Evil

Question: Are the windsurfer's bathrooms at the Event Site out of bounds for Kiteboarders?

As far as I know those are public bathrooms open to whoever wants to use them.
