so let me get this straight.

There is a sign at the Event Site that says all dogs must be on a leash, but dog owners and some non dog owners dont really care about this.

There is also a sign that says no rigging kites, and everyone is all up in a tissy about this rule, or those who break it.

So I guess it boils down to there are rules at the event site but nobody thinks they need to follow them.

So for every dog off a leash means one kite can be rigged?

There is no need for a sticky on dog rules because there are already signs at the areas in question that state these rules. The problems that people complain about here on nwkite would be prevented if everyone followed these rules, posted, mandated and casually enforced by the governing body of elected officials in your local precinct.

WTF people if you own a dog, obey the Rules and take care of your shit no excuses, no dog is an exception no one wants F ing dog shit everywhere just as no one wants the kite pumping area closed down.

So just be responsible for ALL of your SHIT in life, because yes it IS your fault, no one elses, for your and/or your dogs actions.

Not all rules are equal nor are they comparable. Get off your moral high ground unless you truly obey all rules...

i am not on any moral high ground, i am just stating the obvious contradictions. I really dont care if kites or dogs are banned from the event site, its a big river. its just the holyer than thou attitude of kiters and dog owners that is super wack. Be responsible for your own and your dogs actions and ready to face the wheel of you break the deal its that simple

Rules are there for a reason of not we would be a society knee deep in dog shit with a bunch of speeding jaywalkin pot smoking beer drinkin kite rigging mother fuckers.

Sure some laws are socially acceptable to break, some are not, but they are all still laws and rules, but the point here is that there are some dogs and their owners that are not being responsible and this aggravates some people. Just as the rule for rigging kites on the grass aggravates people. There are pleanty of rules and laws I do not like, but you gotta be nice and play by the rules, and take responsibility for your own actions.

I agree with most of what you say. I do let my dogs run off leash, but never when they are unattended. I also try to only do it when it makes sense and there is room for it. This was not always the case, but over time realized imposing my dogs on others without much thought was not cool. My main concern of your post is that the dog community is far larger than the kiting community and many of the dogs you see enjoying their freedom dont belong to kiters. So to take the attitude of if your dog is going to run free then I will rig my line where I want will end up being a losing proposition for those of use who like to pump on grass. I also dont think that was truly your intent.

A mix of rule bending and responsibility is needed.

I'd like to see where the threads are that complain about enjoying beers on the sandbar or pumping at the event site.

sure dogs off leashes, drinking and kites at the event site are all against the rules but generally it seems like its okay to let it slide unless people start complaining. which I'd say its pretty obvious at this point that people are complaining about the dogs. all I'm saying is the dogs vs beer argument is pretty weak....

I think the audience you're complaining to is the wrong one though. the dogs you see on the sandbar are probably not kiters dogs and apparently they seem to think they have entitlement over the sandbar so trying to reason with them is out the window as well.

I really think this could be a good business opportunity for someone. I remember seeing a simpsons episode where Bart was hanging out with a guy who drove a quad that had a big vaccum on it and they would drive around dog parks vacuuming up dog shit all day long. they made good money, got to ride quads and kept up after all the lazy dog owners who are too high and mighty to pickup shit. its win win for everybody Very Happy
