I think I have decided on a Liquid force WLF board as my light wind board. Any recomendations on size - I'm 190 pounds. Would the 140 or 145 be better for Sauvies? _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! Last edited by Moto on Fri Jun 27, 08 11:08 pm; edited 1 time in total |

my twin tip is 40X139 and at ~170 (i quit drinking beer) its not a light wind board for me. used surf boards can be relatively inexpensive. skim boards too... |

Bigger is better when it comes to light wind Martin. |

The WLF is not a great light wind board. It has too much rocker. A fun board, but not a light wind machine.
You are better off with a SS glide, Spleene Session, Nobile EXT, skimboard etc etc. Bigger and flatter is better. |

I know glides are money in light winds - I was just trying to find something that was a little more versitile - thought the WLF was the ticket. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

I rode the WLF in SPI and it was alot of fun. You could talk to Tekko and demo one maybe. |

Yeah, the WLF isn't the "ultimate" light wind machine, but on the plus side it's a lot more fun to ride even though it sacrifices a little bit for it. I rode the 145, and really liked it, (was last one off the water) in Padre last November and I was cruising and doing Raleys in what I consider light wind (not ridable upwind on normal twin tip and 14m SLE kite). I'd just come off the water on a Spleene Door which did power me up a bit more, but didn't really help me get upwind much better and sucked for any kind of tricks. I'd go for the 145 if I were you.
PS I'm sure Tekko will let you demo one if you want. _________________ The Slider Project, LLC

I hit him up - I'll just have to wait for a day at Sauvies. Really want to test it out in light winds. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

I rode a WLF 145 yesterday in Lincoln city on the bay, wind was very light 8-10 Mph, I was able to ride it with a 14m, was hard to hold ground but was better than playing on the beach in the sand! The board was fun. |

surfboard or plywood home made, that's where its at. |
I am looking at updating my boards - I would like a pimpin all around board - but could also use something for when I hit up Sauvies - not all of us can walk on water. _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |

I'll tell you what, Jesus knows were all of you live, and his 9mm never runs out of bullets. Furthermore, Jesus never bothers to knock, he just lets himself in.
That said, I will inscribe on stone tablets your board choices for you and you can go forth and deliver them to the appropriate salesperson nearest you..
All around board: You want a decent sized twin tip that has smooth rails and bigger fins. For your size, I am thinking something in the 137 range. This will be your all around fun board, gorge, nuckin sauvie, close in beach. Boards that come to ind include: JL model III 137 (mine is too small for you), naish sol, caution redline, SS SX (not 06 model), underworld FX, craxy fly pro, and a LF recoil. Fatter tips and tails means better pop but less butter smooth turns. You don't need a super small board for higher winds..just larger fins.
Sauvie this sucks skunk board: Home made skim board with maybe some small small fins. Plywood and t-nuts, pads or wax, keep it simple. If you want to have more fun than that and work up some ocean skills, get a surfboard with straps or without and put them on yourself. Lite wind killer and FUN to practice jibbing!!
Then, and only then can you start to covet thy neighbors board....
1.The fuse, which is great at the coast and in the swell. Not such a super great LW machine though, too much rocker and it has like 15 fins on it.
2. dedicated surfboard.
3. stiff as popping machine-- freestyle board.
And so it was... _________________ Bury me standing cause I won't lay down!!

Appreciate the feedback man - if I hit up Jenny Craig and lose some weight I may try and fit into that 133 - Haha _________________ Still rockin gojos, *ssless chaps, and ankle weights! |
