On hold until next year due to NO wind forecast..........

I don't want our members to sit around in the heat only to see the wind graph rocking the coast.

The 1st annual Rufus Rockpile Rodeo and CGKA Campout is being held June, 28th, 2008

This event is brought to you by the CGKA and is based on having fun!

The competition is going to be teamed based. Each team will have 1 member from each category:

1 Junior
1 mens
1 womens
1 OG
1 Pro

The contest will go something like this: Each team will be given one heat(duration will be determined on the day of the event, based on wind conditions) on the water, each member will perform as many tricks during their heat as possible, your 2 highsest scored tricks will be used for scoring purposes, whickever team ends up with the highest score wins.

The premise of this competition is to meet new friends, team building, having fun and skill building. We encourage the teams to coach each other, so that your score will reflect in a positive way.

The Town of Rufus is having their Independance Day Celebration in the same weekend and they want us to join them for their annual BBQ, parade and fireworks. Afterwards, we can return to the kite launch and have a campout.

This is a total informal event. Please bring a good attitude and leave your ego at home.

Send an e-mail to rufusrockpile@gmail.com include your name, age, phone number, category, etc. There will be more information forthcoming.

Thanks,
Steve

It's only $10 bucks to join. Why wouldn't you want to be a member? This event is a way to bring the membership together and meet everyone.

Hey TinyE
Good question. And I think we as the CGKA are to blame for not letting everyone know what we're doing. Of which, I appologize. We are a fairly new organization and don't quite have all the bugs worked out yet when it comes to promoting ourselves. But, I assure you, there is alot going on that is a result of the work of the CGKA. Examples,

Bridge of the Gods
Stevenson to Hood River Blowout
Kiteboarding for Cancer
Rufus Rockpile Rodeo
Sliders/Kicker
Lyle Clean up
Maintaining access to Lyle
June 14th Demo day
Sandbar improvement project

This is just a partial list of the events that are going on. There is a ton of work done behind the scenes with the Port of Hood River, Waterfront Committee and the CGWA to name a few. Ultimately, you have to decide if your $10 is worth it. But, stay tuned and please give us a little patience as we set the foundation for what is going to be a really successful organization. There is a lot of good stuff planned. Thanks.
Lloyd

Preserving and improving kiting access throughout the Columbia... the people donating their time really care about kiting and the ability to kite in this area. These are the people who are going to fight to keep spots open that you all enjoy.

What's $10 bucks these days anyway? 2.5 gallons of gas?

I agree that the CGKA hasn't been as transparent as it should be, hopefully a lot of that will be changing soon. Those who are closer to the BOD know how much hard work is being put in though.

Making headway with the Ports of Stevenson, Hood River, Lyle.

Numbers is what counts. That's why you should join. the CGKA's clout only increases with membership.

Do you want to launch from the event site year round?

The only way that happens is if the CGKA membership can exceed the CGWA.

The Port listens to real numbers, not rants, they could care less. But to be a real bargaining group requires members, and 10 bucks really is nothing, the money is not paying the Board of Directors, it goes to increasing access and BBQ's.

Oh and 10 bones is 2 gallons of diesel.

The Mission of the CGKA is to increase access for kiteboarding. Are you for that?

Heck, were working on a tax exempt status so your dues woud be a writeoff to boot Cool

That is why every kiter should join, plus you get to vote and will be able to come to board meetings and tell your position.

There is a link for CGKA right here on nwkite. Request a new membership and they will email you confirmation. Via PayPal send your $10 bones to; webmaster@cgka.net and you'll be the 19 member.
