| Currently a Sophmore in High school and was looking at both schools for after. Not familiar w/ the area let alone the state and was wondering how the kiting is for both schools. Any info about the collages, area, kiting, etc.. would be greatly appretiated. Oregon in Eugene and OSU in corvalis. |

Oregon State!
OSU if you want to be an enginerd or pharmacist (only because we have our own pharm school)...
UofO if you're a hippie that likes business/marketing or wants to be a to be a doctor (where my sis goes for Bio/Pre-med).
I'm Bio/Pre-med and went to OSU though.
Each are within an hour of the coast (Eugene-Florence/Corvallis-Newport).
Just out of curiousity, where are you from in Kauai? I've got a bunch of friends (met at OSU) which are originally from there. Last edited by Kataku2k3 on Fri Jan 11, 08 10:09 pm; edited 2 times in total |

| UO has the nearby ditch aka fern ridge (see other topic posts to get a visual), UO is also an hour away from Florence. OSU is 45 to 60 min from newport. So both are about an hour away from the beach, and Hood River is about 3 hrs from eugene |

OSU has a kiteboarding club team, its only 50 bucks to join and you get to go all over the country to kite... Regional Championships are held on Fern Ridge
Plus OSU is closer to the gorge |

good thoughts for a young lad.
if you snowboard corvalis is close to hoodoo to .

Three biggest lies of a OSU student.
1: I have other clothes, I just prefer to wear my Halloween colors all year long.
2: Corvallis is the cultural hub of Oregon, there is SO much to do and see.
3: Honest, I was just helping that sheep over the barbed wire fence.
Just getting my jabs in as a Duck alum. the aforementioned in the previous posts are right on the money. Especially about the hot cali chicks at U of O. Good luck with your decision. |

sorry, no kite club, I was just dreaming...
Both schools do have a sailing club, UO's is much nicer I have to admit, all of their sports programs are heavily funded by Nike.
If you want to do kiteboarding I still recommend Corvallis because it's closer to more spots. Corvallis is kind of a small town, and the cops are real anal about EVERYTHING. any Thursday through Saturday night it seems that Corvallis has every police vehicle in the state to patrol campus and surrounding area.
on the other hand, Eugene is not as clean and is full of hippies... |

most people dont realize the reason there are high # of OR state troopers there is because OSU has a federally funded nuclear reactor on campus and some federal law requires OSU to actually have its own dedicated state troopers on site...........just 1 of the many random facts i learned when i used to show new students around OSU w/ their parents.....go beavers |
