i took phil's 7 for a spin. is that guy a beach rep for every kite he owns? the rev is certainly a very nice performance kite that really delivers on the hybrid concept and i can imagine a lot of c kite fans using this without reservation.

it was so fun to fly a kite again with real power through all the turns. i actually preferred it in the lulls because then you can work the kite and it just feels good. huge difference from the waroo/bularoos. actually reminded me a lot more of the yarga sle in its turning/flying feel. could be great for waves.

powerful, exciting kite. very stable from what i saw but also not as much full depower as the original waroo. more like other hybrids it seemed. my technique has degenerated from the too-easy waroos and it took some relearning, but probably a good thing. the key test will be trying the 5m with surfboards in strong wind and waves. i hope it isn't too powerful.

I rode rufus in a kite whore mode Sunday spending more time on demo's than my own kites.

Thanks AGAIN Brian Hively & Slingshot! Very Happy

Rode the 07 13m Fuel in the morning's cleaner winds, playing mostly with unhooked stuff but managed to launch a couple monster on the outside. Very Happy
I can honestly say, the 07 Fuel is the funnest Fuel I've EVER rode, this coming from a previous rider, 03-05.

In the late afternoon's shitty wind, I scored a sweet session on the new 2008 11m Rev.
I had sessions on my 13 Waroo & 10m Bull during the day which provided an excellent reference point of comparison for the following...

The 11M REV is a faster turning than the 10m Bull with a speed through the wind leaning toward the 13m's W.
Low end: Good
Top end: Didn't find it
'Gusts mitigation: OUTSTANDING!!!
Power flying on the stopper: Smooth
Jumping: Hang On!!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Ride the REV and see for yourself!

cheers,

John

so 9 -11 for us fat guys? With a 13m fuel for those light wind days.?

11 Rev has atleast as much power as 13 Fuel so 13 Fuel doesn't fit. 9, 13 Rev makes more sense-IMHO. Big guys might also consider 7 TD 2 and 11 Rev for a 2 kite quiver. TD 7 is a little firmer for bigger riders, more direct pull-rode one today in suprisingly light wind......sick little kite! Very Happy

So, I could get away with a Rev 9 and 13m?

We have pretty steady winds, ranging from 12-35, though 25-35 doesn't happen very often. So a typical day might be 12-15 or 18-22...not very gusty. Just want to get at least the range of my 2005/2006 7-11-15m Fuels and accomplishing that with 2 kites would be nice!

I've had my '05 7m Fuel out in high 30s average, gusting well into the 40s, and while pretty lit, I could still ride and was not getting dragged all around.

Thanks! Wink

I ride 06 TD's. I ride the 12 and then always have a hard time deciding whether to drop to 10 or 8. I can't imagine that 9, 13, wouldn't pretty much cover it....at least on my kites. I'm #205

Thanks KingE,

Forgot to add that I'm 165 lbs and right now ride a 127 Misfit and Nobile skimboard.

Thanks again....can't wait to try these kites. Can you guys please stop hogging the demo REVs so they can send them to the forgotten riders of the Northeast? Laughing Laughing

PostThu Aug 16, 07 6:10 pm    Wind range ? Reply with quote

PDF lists REV wind range. It does not look like this kite has quite the range other kites may have - as much as 10mph less for a given kite compared to SLE. Any SLE/ Hybrid users care to comment on wind range of this kite compared to what they are used to? How does it handle the UPs and DOWNs of typical gorge gusty wind?

Do these PDF wind range #'s look right - From what is being posted above, I get the impression the wind range is greater than stated in PDF.

I really like having a 2 kite quiver, and would like to keep it that way. Currently use SLE 7 & 11 - It sure doesn't look like the REV will cover the range these kites do, but will it be close?

No Flamers pls.

Thx - C

Hey Boardrider,
Im no expert, but this is what I have experienced with my limited time on the Rev.
Im sure that you have noticed that each kite has a SWEET spot. Once you start flying the kite on either side of the SWEET spot it becomes more work (i.e. you need to pay more attention to what it is doing or not doing).
On Wednesday I had the oportunity to fly the 11m, 9m, and 7m from barely white cappen to nuketastic conditions. Maybe I just timed it right but I did not experience the poor flying charicteristics on the high end of the wind range. This is a direct result of Slingshot designing a stopper ball into the sheeting system so you cant over sheet the kite.

This may not be the technical info you were looking for but maybe one of Slingshot crew could chime in.

As far as the ups and downs (gusty conditions), the Rev sucks it up just like a dog licking beer off the ground. All I could feel is bar movement when the stopper is not set in place.

What ever you do, dont demo the Rev until you are ready to get new kites. The Rev will totally spoil you and you wont want to fly anything else. Its alot like getting a new supper hot girl friend and calling in sick the next morning. I think you know what I mean.

Like most kite companies they are being conservative. The high end on these kites is really quite impressive. I was riding an 11 comfortably when phil and tucker were out on the 7m.
