So I just got my Oregon kicker check and I'm starting to think about what kite I'm going to pick up next year.

Do you guys still have love for the Revs? Any weird problems etc?

I am looking for a lightwind kite. I currently have a 06 7m waroo and a 10 bularoo. The 10 was my smallest kite last year but I feel like I could have kited a little more if I would have had a larger kite. I am also getting sick of being on my big plywood monster on the lighter days. Anyway I weigh 195 and am thinking about picking up a 13 or a 15. I know most of you guys like smaller kites but I hate being underpowered. Anyone ridden the 13 and the 15 that could give me some insight?

Thanks,
Andy

Yea, I rode the 13m Rev. It does pull like a truck! It turns fast for a 13m, and the bar pressure is amazingly light. I have not ridden the 15m Rev. so I can't help you there.
For light wind (lighter than you can ride the 13m Rev) you might want to consider the 14m Turbo II. As you can see, Slingshot doesn't make the Machine anymore......The T2 has totally filled the wind range that the Machine used to dominate. Another good thing about the T2 is that it has real good de-power, thus a larger wind range than a lot of other kites.
You can't go wrong with either the Rev or T2.

If you like light bar pressure, know how to control your kite power with edging/kite position and know how to maneuver your kite to generate power, then the REV 15 is a good way to go. The REV 13 and 15 are very quick kites for their size, and are very light in bar pressure, providing a lot of pull via your harness. Definitely has more pull for getting air than the T2, which is one thing to consider.

If you like bar pressure, low-end grunt and lots of depower range in your bar control, then the T2 14 is a good way to go. The T2 14 has turned out to be the 'go to' kite for me in the lightwinds. The heavier bar pressure is actually great to have in the lighter winds so that I do not 'choke' or 'oversheet' the kite too much and it has made my riding much more efficient.

For my light wind kite (14 T2) I like the T2 due to it's depower range via a long throw in the bar, while in the stronger winds I prefer the quickness, maneuverability and shorter depower bar throw of the REV (7, 9 or 11m2 sizes).

Pepi,

I was considering the REV 7, 11, and 15 as my quiver for next year, but I like the description you're giving of the T2 14. I think for my biggest kite a lot of depower is important if the wind comes up unexpectedly, and you want to keep riding or get in safely. Do you think a REV 7, REV 11 and T2 14 would make a decent quiver? I'm figuring my 11 will be the main kite here on the coast, and I'm trying to center the quiver around that. Also, anyone know anything about the T3, like when's it going to be released, and what changes have been made?

Mocean,

knowing your riding style and board (Fuse), I think you would be happy with the T2 14 in light winds at your local spot. The 7m, 11m Rev will work well too, but different than the T2s in the same size.

The T2 just hangs there while you are riding the wave. You can de-power the kite and ride surf style. The Rev will do well too on the wave, however you will have to move the kite more. Kind of like your Fuels.

I think I was riding a T2 11m on one day last Summer and you were riding your 13m Fuel. We were both on the Fuse. You weigh a little more than me, but not much. Gary was riding a 7m T2 on the same day with a 5'5" SRT. The wind was a little up and down when it turned a little more North than NW. I was amazed with the T2 that day. The range throughout the wind changes was increadible.

Either kite will be great.....You can't go wrong with either of them. It is a matter of preference.

If I could afford it, I would ride both....Revs in the Gorge and Turbos in the waves.

Thanks BH20,
Although you might be confusing me with Mike J, he and I are about the same when it comes to styles and conditions we ride in. I've been on an SRT 5-11 the last two seasons, although I'll probably get a Fuse next season as well for the difficult days. Now you've got me thinking about the T's - at least I have a couple months to decide and see what shakes out with the T3's.

Thanks

Hi Mocean :

I was actually going to suggest to you that the 7 and 9 REV with a 14 T2 would be the ticket for you to go with, but your comment about using the 11 REV for the coast makes complete sense and would actually compliment the T2 14 really well for coast kiting.
In lightwind the T2 will just sit up in the air like a well trained shepard dog, which allows you to focus more on setting up for the wave and getting in a good position.
In a bit stronger winds or conditions where you want a faster kite with more tug to it, or when the waves are closing out fast the 11 REV would be a good complimentive kite to hop over to for more aggressive riding.

As for the FUSE, I really liked how the Fuse worked with the T2 and it was actually my board of choice for most of my riding time (I'm in the 200lb+ club, so big butt=big kite).

wow, 2500 reads about the rev's.....is this a cult forming here?

I have to agree with all of the positive posts about the rev's.
I am a team rider down here in LV mexico and I must agree and admit that I have a love afair with the REV"S as well. I have a quiver of T2's for the waves and I ride the 7,9,11 quiver of REV's for the freestyle riding.

I am 220lbs and my glide and 11m rev werx 4 the lite stuff! The 9m is the killing it Machine and the 7m is the nuker kite.
These things do make you rip better as I have progressed into a better rider fer sure.

Glad to see everyone is "Reving it up"
