I was sitting in the parking area of the wonderbar and asked a friend what all these black little BB's were. We inspect them a little closer and they are coal BB's coming off the uncovered cars. Then we see a train coming and I count, just out of curiosity, 126 uncovered coal cars come zooming by at 40 mph. We couldn't see the dust, but if these BB's are flying off the train we are darn well breathing it! It boils down to corporate greed and we all get to pay for it with a dieing planet!

If this was my local spot and I had these concerns you have, I would start documenting ASAP.
maybe start taking a picture everyday and doing a time lapse to determine if the environment is changing.

I heard of the coal trains that were going through the corridor and this helped with my decision on whether I wanted to live close to trains or not. I eventually decided not to. I think BNSF runs 30-40 trains per day before the coal train increases.

It is WAY BEYOND STUPID to ship coal across our country then across the ocean so it can be burned and ruin our atmosphere, I pity the FOOL that rationalizes this in any way.

add.. to make stuff to ship back here where the coal was mined to be able to mine the coal ..... thats full circle bliss.... aka our economy.... mostly for all of our quality of life.

oh yeah , add on the additional wasted energy of fighting it and bitching about it to the footprint .

Stupid is as stupid does .....

I'm just wondering how long it will take for the pollution and energy consumption of the coal trains to catch up to all the boats and trucks it took shipping windmills out I-84 to Idaho and eastern Oregon and Washington.

I saw this lone car the other weekend on the side of HWY14.
obviously when they fill them this much, there's bound to be chunks and dust coming off along the tracks
