If you are traveling with others make sure they get their TDAP also. It's around, but not currently reported in the local news here in portland.

Yes, see my post way up at the top. I stated that the vaccine was administered during a normal clinic visit.... Actually I stepped on a nail. The Tdap is part of the tetanus shot you get.
Which for me raises to question: Why all this bitching about this vaccine? Just ask yourself next time you step on a rusty nail and are running the risk of lock-jaw. Are you going to just wait-and-see what happens? Or take the evil doctors sound advice?

wylieflier - if you can make rational sense out of the inept-eca conspiracy theorists you are a better man than I .... (i can assure you the pharma employees are getting the same vacs we get - bill gates is using different vacs in third world in some cases, that is true enough, $25 per pop is a big deal in india)

In the severe absence of wind I have found this thread to be thoroughly entertaining.

Too funny. Now this is more what i do. Newton's Uni law explains how strong the pull and at what rate, not why it happens. The Theory of general relativity is what we use to explain, kinda how it works. Its a theory bro, too funny. Shoulda researched....

just for fun guys, im over this...

ped·ant:

noun
1.
a person who makes an excessive or inappropriate display of learning.
2.
a person who overemphasizes rules or minor details.
3.
a person who adheres rigidly to book knowledge without regard to common sense.

all this crap goes out the window when you're hurt or sick and need Rx. If I step on the nail I'm gettin the damn shot. I'll take our medical system over any other one anywhere else in the world without blinking.

I think ecameron needs to enlist and spend a few years in the service. They'll stick you with all kinds of good stuff... then you smile and ship out brah. Man up

Really? Excessive knowledge, is there such a thing? Hours and hours of volunteer hours at masonic and VA hospitals. My dads a vet and made sure i honor their actions. (also who do you think im looking out for?)

Listen once again, my posts are about misinformation. Not anything else.

The gravity issue is a great example. Left untouched people would have passively believed that it was a law, quite possibly passing that misinfo on. This is not good for the populous at all. Look up Chomsky and marketing on this one.

Jonas Salk.....

What really sucks is looking out the window at work, seeing the trees being rocked, and knowing I can't kite till my wetsuit gets back from a seam getting popped...

Inept - "that's f@cked up! america is so lame! we invented fire, now people getting burned, what's up with that!".

pjc - "Ineptible-the-contempible ... dude, you need fire to smoke. No fire, no kind. Sorry, just the way it is".

Inept - "Ok ok, maybe I spoke too fast. It's forest fires. Yeah forest fires are the problem. Pretty sure most of the forest fires in the world started out in the US (or at least were set with American matches.) We are so lame. lol.lol. Also, dangling sucks, you "oh boy now we can get married" gay people".

Eca - "You're wise to keep an open mind inept. Here is a link explaining how America is responsible for most of the world's forest fires. www.dumbass.howcanyoubelievethisshit.com "

consumer wrote:
Merck is currently donating large amounts of the drug Ivermectin to countries that cannot afford it. Ivermectin is a drug designed by Merck and is amazingly effective at treating onchocerciasis , or river blindness. 18 million people in the world suffer from it, and it is the worlds second leading cause of blindness.

Pharm companies are capitalistic entities, after all, but regardless of their motives -- this is hugely positive for the world.

Consumer,
I was unaware of this and wanted to look into it after you posted. You definitely sound like you are educated on medical matters so i figured it deserved my time.
Woefully, i could not find exact numbers, but will continue. I did find this though,

The Merck Company Foundation has distributed more than $480 million to educational and non-profit organizations since it was founded in 1957
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merck_%26_Co.

Yeah, i hate wikipedia also, but it was updated from what i could tell.

An estimated 88,000 Americans reportedly suffered heart attacks as a result of taking Vioxx -- 38,000 of them fatal -- and, facing tens of thousands of lawsuits, Merck ultimately settled for $4.85 billion, the largest settlement in the company's history, but far less than the $10-25 billion predicted by analysts. Last year, Merck made another huge settlement -- this time, more than $650 million -- after the Justice Department accused the company of overcharging Medicaid for its products and unlawfully paying kickbacks to doctors.

Fairly mind blowing numbers $480M in 55 yrs charity, 4.85B in maybe 5 yrs, we won't count the 650M, as that was just 1 yr., in fines. If they're paying out that much in fines, how much are they making......, and only 480M. Nauseating.

Once again, i do appreciate all medical personal and this in no way reflects on them. These guys don't get their 5K suits dirty, I know.

Oh, forgot this also,

What is Ivomec?
Ivomec is a parasiticide used to treat and control internal and external parasites such as gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, grubs, sucking lice, and mange mites in cattle. It’s also used to treat and control gastrointestinal roundworms, lungworms, lice, and mange mites in swine.

Got this from 1800petmeds

I love merck.

Come on guys, I was just trying to inform others of the Whooping Cough outbreak going on in our area so nobody else would get part or all of their season ruined. I know I jumped in once with the political BS on this thread too; I apologize.

This is a kiteboarding forum; can we drop the drama now? Nobody is going to convince anybody of anything here. Let's just leave it at Whooping Cough is here, right now. Get the shot or risk giving up a month or three of kiteboarding. Get it or not, your choice. No whining if you get it though, you've been warned.
