you could make it 2 layers with a skeletonized frame core between, core could be all plexi or a mix, lot of choices of material and adhesives, tuning options.

plexiglass is so fun to cut, isn't it?
Typical 135-140 would need around 2l space inside for float if the top/bottom sheets were 6mm. Probably doable, geeky tech look but with plenty of clear left to see through... Hmmm.

this reminds me of this dude in Truckee that builds, er molds, these things
SBC Kiteboard has a story about it in this issue. It's also online: Acrylite Kiteboard. My understanding is that it is called plexiglass in Germany, but it's not the same as the material known by that name in the US. That is why the Youtube video calls it plexiglass.
