Designed this board a few years back.
Even cut a mold and core for some folks.
Gonna have to follow up on it.

I'd be fun to see what you could come up in terms of different materials and construction techniques.
I think most skateboard contstruction is still pretty low tech. You have either feather weight flexy boards or real heavy stiff boards. It'd be nice to have a light board that was also mostly stiff but with a nice amount of flex.
The few boards I have seen that play with carbon or other materials are serious $$$$. Like this one:

Hey Hein, if I brought a big chunk of aluminum out could you CNC that board pictured above?

Thanks Phil, those threads are chock full of useful nuggets
"Want to drift? Get rounded edge wheels
Want to stick? Get hard edge wheels
BAM!"

Yeah but most of us are coming from kiteboarding, we expect everything to be expensive and complicated.
Actually I was pretty surprised how technical the longboarding stuff got... amazing how much you can really get different gear to try to change your experience. Then there's guys like Stringer who show up with bolts falling off their 10 year old board and tear up the downhill.

Classic! He's so good on the water he doesn't need his boots to be attached to his board or his kite to have air, or every line to be attached to the bar! That's when you know you got skillz.

My old board made from 1\4" tool aluminum profiled on a Whitney CNC plasma.
Concave was put in with a 500 ton CNC press brake. Built it in the 80s.
Probably has 100K on it by now. LOL
2nd shot also shows my buddy's resin infused board, end grain balsa core.

Skateboarding is more about the rider than anything else. When I was young we were really poor. When I would break a skateboard, I'd have to save my pennies until I had $24 to buy a new wood blank. In the mean time I'd rock a 2x4 with my trucks screwed to it. I couldn't ollie, but I could definitely ride quarter-pipes and half-pipes with it. I guess the point was made earlier with what you stated with Stringer.
You guys should definitely be looking at riding long boards that are stiff and have a nice nose and tail. There is only so much turning you can do before it gets boring. If you have a nose and tail, you can start learning manuals, ollies, early grabs off little ramps, and other super fun things with your skateboard.
