Team DNF!
It took 3 different jetskis Phil, Henry and Pat to get my trainer kite back in the air - the jump on the ski and power the bitch out of the water was the final ticket (though I did try to kill myself the first attempt as I spazzed off the back and slammed the ski) - after all that only got another half mile till it shutdown completely.
Nice Job Stringer and Mark of the strapless crew
And way to go Cory and Scott! and Grom's strategy of body draggin on the surfboard through the doldrums was pure genius
THanks Nicole and everyone - Great event _________________ Go Deep!

I think we had about 11 people that didn't make it this year to the Sandbar this year. |

Thanks Nikki and all the volunteers! It was a challenging blowout for sure. Started fine, went to super light winds, to 30 plus with huge rollers! Best part was coming in super overpowered (13.5 and strapless surfboard) to the finish. The finish crew had it dialed. One person grabbed my board, one grabbed me, and the 2 or 3 grabbed my kite. While all this was going on, their were photos being taken and my time properly recorded. VERY WELL DONE.
....Pepi I will be ready for the rematch!! _________________ Cleverly disguised as an adult...

If anyone has a good photo they want to submit for the Hood River News, I'm looking for one or two (at least one of Cory). Need it today, ASAP. |

Yes indeed. Three cheers for the CGKA and Nichole (sp?). This is a super super cool event that requires a great deal of planning.
This event is made possible every year by people that do all that work just because it is a cool thing to do. The blowout is absolutely the highlight of all the events for me. For the people, by the people.
Best hamburger I ever had!! Shame I got there too late for the dolphin burgers |

It doesn't get much better than Colby's first shots of Cory and Scotty Edgar to show the stoke. Grom stylin' and Stringer pimpin' are also classic pics.
Thanks Betty B for the tasty Big Kahuna burgers and schwag.........now go ride KB4C and have some fun! |

Thanks Nic and all of the volunteers! I was a little worried about the time recording setup but you guys had it dialed in! Great job on the organization and keeping track of everything and everyone. I know you guys spent a lot of time to make sure all the racers were accounted for. |

thanks Nichole and all of you for volunteering over not one but two weekends to make the 2009 blowout happen. it takes an incredible amount of coordination between so many people to support an event taking place over 19 miles of somewhat inconsistent wind. glad everyone made it home safe. another great event for the cgka. all the volunteers and competetors should be very proud. doing the blowout this year was so much fun (except for the painfull five to ten minutes at home valley waiting for enough wind to relaunch my kite). wish i could have stayed around for one of those burgers.
congrats Cory! |
