If you guys want to bomb, I've got a couple of streets for you.
SW PDX Hills, Dosch Rd off of Patton Rd. Go down Dosch and take a 90 degree turn onto Hamilton (long, steep and straight).
Second one is Montgomery St. off off Vista Dr. just past Strokeheckers store. Go down Motgomery all the way back to Vista Dr.
Third one (insane downhill, straight downhill). This one is in Beaverton, off Murray Rd. It is called Weir rd. Probably close to 1 mile long, straight downhill and vert. drop is probably like 700'
Be safe out there. |

G- you hitting the race tomorrow morning? Might be cool to roll out the "old man" posse. I could get out of bed, risk life and limb, and be back before the wife and kid wake up!!

When was following Kraemer and Monkeyboy ever a good idea
Headin to Stevenson tonight to support my Slingshot brothers and hitting the training hill and maybe Moiser Tunnels - Dive to the Pearl and Maryhill - I think are slated for 2010 - unless we figure high speed slides this weekend _________________ Go Deep!

harder wheels and commitment. Even those 84's I am rolling with tended to grab at when I started slowing down in my slides. They are still way grabby though in turns when I am not trying to slide. |

I figure if I can get good at sliding my 78s then everything else will be easy. |

You can slide them yes... but beware because they grab pretty damn quick. It seems that this is the point where you high side and smash your face or tweak your ankles.
Don't take it from me... take it from the folks that know this stuff.....
To do a slide you should start with a 180 degree coleman. To do slides you must be VERY committed.
*First get a moderate speed.
*Next bend down and get ready to grab the side of the board that is infront of you.
*You will want too lean as far back as you can without flipping over and put your other hand on the pavement (You will have gloves. I will explain later) and put most of your weight on your hand. You will be whipped around.
*As soon as you do the 180 pull your hand off and stand back up.
* YOU DID A SLIDE DOOD!!!
This will take lots of practice to get perfectly but once you get it, it will stick.
About the Gloves: Gloves are there to decrease friction as well and protect your hand. A glove is basicly a durable working glove with plastic attached to the palm. These can be homemade or bought.
*WHEELS* To do a slide you will want to use a higher duro wheels (85-99). Duro stands for Durometer which is the wheels hardness. To start off if you have a complete shortboard that would work perfect. Gravity often makes well made sliding wheels.
Also a decks wheel-base comes into play. The longer the wheelbase the harder it is to break loose the wheels but it will be a more predictable and controlled slide. |

Seeing as how the winds took a real nose-dive,
It would be good to bring the wheelboard to
Stevenson; ride from the Bolstad complex
all the way to the launch. I think that's
where the first aid tent will be |
