If you want to fit in with the locals...

I tried on forrest's pair and I think they are more comfortable than the production ones, plus they have way thicker pucks.
Jim's are pretty cool too, have a puck that comes up into your wrist.
BTW, the east side longboards site has some pretty sweet pics and info

Hmmm, most interesting. I'm going to make a set of home made slider gloves alah cutting board remnants and old gloves. Got a pimping set of knee pads and a full face helmet. Bomb to the pearl...I would be down for that.
Debating if I should get a set of hard wheels for sliding.

Hard wheels are easier to slide, but everything i have read says you can still slide 78a wheels reliably after they break in. I would be worried about wheels that are too hard and wouldn't carve well on the downhills.
Also, I think cuttingboards would be too soft. You will chew through that really fast. The pucks I have are made out of Delrin I think.
That would be cool to watch on Saturday, but BoTG is this weekend.

I haven't slid out yet, maybe a half inch or so when I do really hard carves. You don't need to do it if you can foot break good... though I would like to learn the emergency stop manuver... none of us are doing big slides at speed though which is when you'd want to use that.
carving on a long board at speed has a sick feeling to it

I vote for Washington Park later in the evening.. like7:30 or so?...
I know my wheels are only 78 but they are super sticky and hard to really break loose. I can do a four wheel slide when carving but really want to do they whole one hand on the ground slide the shit out of the board thang...

| One thing about the zoo bomb-- even though there's an elevator, there's a small bit of walking and the road is rough. I used to bomb the Casey Eye Center Pkg. lot too. There's an elevator --a really smooth surface, but just a typical 8 story lot-- not too challenging--but smooth.

Newly Paved? That would make epic skating. The plan is / should be; take max to the zoo
elevator, and off you go! You'll end up at goose hollow to do it over and over again.
