Hello all,
Check it out at:

http://www.pdxgreen.com/RoosterCam.aspx

I already ordered the equipment because I was feeling pretty confident about reaching the funding goal - and to make sure we got the discounted price.
Last Friday, Al and I installed the RoosterCam.

The website is pretty basic for now - will add some features when I get more time.

The mount is not a stable as I'd like - starts to wobble when wind gets above 20MPH causing blurry images. This will get upgraded in the near future.

Thanks again for all the support for this project!
Couldn't have done it without you.

Few more notes on RoosterCam:
- Updates once per minute from 6AM to 9PM daily
- Should be able to see water level by looking at wing wall
- Camera angle is constrained by nearby trees
- Zoom is currently set to max for best view of the action
- Last 10 images are saved, you can view these by using the Fwd and Back buttons
- Website should automatically update once per minute if you don't click any buttons
Enjoy!

Wow. You have any idea how much that investment of 20 bucks just saved us all in gas? I'm thinking I'll recoup in like 3 weeks. Amazing. Thanks a ton man.

With regards to Sauvie Island:
- Last I heard from Stuart at iWindurf - an SI wind sensor is at the top of his list of local projects. That being said, I don't know if or when they'll ever actually do it.

- As far as an SI webcam (or private wind sensor), besides the funding, the other crucial requirements are:
= Access - having permission to put it somewhere
= Power - access to a reliable power source
= Internet - access to an existing broadband connection

- You can go solar for power, but this is more expensive and requires more space for solar panels.
- You can go wireless for internet, but this involves ongoing monthly fees.

With Rooster, because of the good will of the OR Parks guys, we can get all the above for free - so the webcam will be free for all to use once it's purchased and installed.
