Counted 68 broken chains laying in the road on my cross town trip.
Makes you wonder what those do to your car when they fly off at speed Shocked

Ps snow/road update....
Westside still bad. ruts in the roads, LOTS of snow.
eastside looks alot better. Roads are mostly clear (only talking freeways) My side roads look like Nanook of the norths driveway...

I'm considering a Forrester, but do these cars attract hot-looking young lesbians who are maybe on the fence (f ya know what I mean), or do the cars attract the butch ones?

Just like a guy who thinks buying a Camero (or Land Rover with vanity plates) is going to result in hot young sluts flocking to them, purchasing a Subaru in hopes of landing some fresh faced 19 yo college student who has dabbled at the Y will likely result in you being accosted by the "real" Portland lesbians.

yes, those lesbians. The ones you see at starbucks in NE, sporting the Carharts and brush cut, the ones who are trying to make a statement by not bleaching their mustaches or plucking the big black hairs on their chin.

That is the kind of lesbian you'll land in your Subaru wagon.

Made the last of our 2866 mile drive from Texas yesterday. Took 6 hours from
Corvallis to HR. Bailed off the I-5 in north Salem. Traffic was backing up there.
Lots of chains littering the highway, crazy truckers and too many knuckle head
drivers.

99E was badly rutted but much less traffic so it was an easy pace. Got onto the
205 for a short jaunt to exit 19 where we took 26/35 over the mountain. Nicely
maintained all the way. Stopped at the Huckleberry Inn for a burger before
dropping into HR. Got passed by some idiot in a blue Toyota who thought he
needed to haul ass down 35 after skiing all day with the family. Kids in the back.
What's up with the wanna-be rally drivers racing up and down 35? Slow the fuck
down ASS HOLE. We got a whole winter to enjoy and don't need it spoiled by
you and your race up and down the mountain power trip.

Other Daughter made the drive later (had lunch with her BF in Salem) and spun
on the 99 but got it together and kept going. She was a little late for the mountain
so did 84 after dark. She said there was some blowing snow but mostly dry
pavement. You got to teach those youngens how to drive in the weather.
Very proud of both my girls for their driving skills.

Kim was glad we all made it home safely.

My AWD Saturn Vue was great with my existing M+S tires but I went ahead and
ordered some Blizzaks for it. Plus I got a Buddha on the dash and rub his tummy
from time to time. The little dude can make the wind blow and the swell kick up
too.

Happy Holidays,
Hein

about ten years ago we were coming down from timberline via 26. It was snowing like a bitch and this station wagon flew past us. They were kind of screwing around and the driver feigned like he was going to use that first runaway truck ramp. When he tried to correct the car slid sideways towards the cliff (there was not a guard rail there at the time) and then Whooosh..... no more car lights.

My buddy and I were like "HOLY SHIT" as we were the only other people on the road. We pulled over and I swear to god, the car was about 50 feet down the cliff, t-boned on one of the only trees on the entire slope. If it wasn't for that tree it was going to be a 200 foot slide into the forest below. Turned out to be 4 teenagers, three of which were drunk.

Craziest driving thing I have ever seen. So yeah, slow the fuck down on the mountain roads. If you want to save 5 minutes on the mountain then buy a pair of flow bindings. Smile

I got a Forester with Toyo Observe snow tires. All I have to say is that this car-tire combo is amazing, my shit don't slide. Maybe you just have the wrong impression of what a Forester can really be, you just have to de-dyke them a bit: http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_images/3/2225/1661/30560830005_large.jpg

True enough, custom wheels are proven to repel dykes. black steel rims though...yikes.
