Anyone have a prediction on when Meadows is going to open? I'm sitting here watching the snow NOT pile up day after day Mad

Mid December? Early January?

Trying to decide if its worth putting my studded tires on this week - or maybe just wait and see.

They are calling for 5 days of rain this week with temps in the mid 40's. Should get some snow at Meadows....the question is how much.

About a wiener's worth probably. We need a serious storm ASAP to jump start that base.

Hey, look at it this way... A shitty winter means a better summer on the Sandbar. Less days having to lunch on the little south mud/sand/rock sliver of the Sandbar Smile

Definately man - but I'm going stir crazy over here. I may have to get a dry suit and chase some winter storms.

Most of the weather patterns I've been watching this year have been shifted forward by about a month, maybe a little more. Remember how spring seemed to be late? If that holds true then we'll be getting it by mid December. Easterlies (and westerlies) have been holding on later than usual and the coast had a late push. Problem with the Gorge later in the fall is the sun angle doesn't allow consistent heating and cold air is trapped in the shadows. That means gusty, holey wind. Forrest's got it. Go do some mountain biking. I'd think the trails out east should be good.

Whatever dude, go to Walmart and pick up a bike for $100. Then beat the shit out of it over the next couple weeks until we get snow. Problem solved Wink

Make this your home page.

Over time you'll start to understand how it all works.
At least you'll know where to go when you need a fix.
For example, an H over the four corners means Baja is firing.

speaking of snow:
I'm looking for a cheap backcountry (randonee) set-up if anyone has old gear they want to get rid of.
I really wanna try snowkiting some backcountry spots in bend...

If you go check the Meadows' blog, a lot of guys are trippin' out... Meadows talks about how in the last 2 years, they opened by Thanksgiving, but with only a 20" base. We didn't get the big build in the base unitl mid-December. I'm not worried, though I too really want to get up there!

Meadows isn't worried either, they made all of their money off early season pass purchases.

When they do open they better start opening at 7:30 or 8:00 AM again like they did in the past. It's only fair so the pass holders can make up for lost time.
