I'm starting to see a posotive purpose to GW's presence on this planet. Without him Obama may not have won.

Name calling never changed anyone's mind, or accomplished anything at all useful for that matter. Props to Ham for not responding in kind.
Ham, as one Republican to another, we have got to sit down and discuss GW over a beer sometime. Why more of us don't hate him is beyond me. He's done more damage to the party and the country than anyone else in history. GW is THE main reason that Obama is President-Elect today. That's the reality of the situation. His administration has blundered everything it's tried to do. They have, and continue to, fought every real attempt at aviation security. All for political vindictiveness. His ordering torture of POWs has made real interrogation of actual terrorists nearly impossible. His complete inability to understand the dynamics of the Middle East has led to destabilization of the region and the near certainty that Iran will become a nuclear power. His administration outed a CIA agent in time of war. Almost certainly under orders from GW himself. All for political vindictiveness. Our economy is faltering and our infrastructure is failing, all at a time when China and Russia are surging ahead in the same areas. I could go on for hours & support each statement with logical analysis.
Surrendering the freedoms we enjoy in the name of fighting terrorism is abhorrent to me. Benjamin Franklin said it best, "Those that would sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither." There are good reasons why warrants are required for wiretapping. Power corrupts.
Ham, you can despise GW and still love America. Being Patriotic does not mean following blindly. I served in the USAF for seven years and I would gladly lay down my life for America today. I will also do all in my power to keep the government honest. I will cry foul when any politician of either party pursues a course of action that I believe is detrimental to the United States of America.
Thank you everyone for caring enough to voice your opinions. Remember, we all want what is right. Just because someone disagrees with you as to how we'll reach our goals is no reason to hate.

I think Tibet is the greatest nation on earth (or atleast the highest)....let's see then Sweden.............oops am I being blasphemous? I wish Bush could have a third term.....by then my rifle would be clean and ........oh I should stop thinking out loud! I would have voted for Al Sharpton if it would have gotten Bush and Cheney and their satanic minions out of the oval office. Thank goodness an eloquent, intelligent, and spiritual man such as Obama was available to take the reins. A very historic day indeed Eric!

Nak, I would love to talk politics with you sometime. Mostly for an insight into the educated republic mindset more than anything. My opinion of the republican party has mostly been formed by observing the GW administration which you have pointed out, has had its share of blunders and from what I understand, does NOT represent classic conservative beliefs.
ok, I REALLY got to get some work done. Mostly because I was supposed to have it done yesterday and my client is a die hard republican and is likely not in the best mood.

I really dislike about 50% percent of each parties platform. I voted for Ron Paul that way I can blame both parties and don't have to hide my face if I vote for someone who gets elected and they turn out to be a idiot. [img][/img]

OK, I might have exaggerated a tad... How about "His administration has blundered everything of any consequence it's tried to do.
The rest of the paragraph is the starting point of support. The rest would take hours, even days. The point is, ideology by itself is not enough. Competence, intelligence and rational analysis are all critically important. The Bush administration has been sorely lacking in the latter three. They have badly bungled two wars. They have helped to wreck our economy. Rather than ask what they have done wrong, it would be easier to ask what have they done right. Not Afghanistan. Not Iraq. Not the economy. Not our infrastructure. Not aviation security. Not fighting terrorism. Not national security.
Republicans have historically been dedicated to personal liberty. Sacrificing liberty in the name of security is the start down a slippery slope. If it's OK to spy on your citizens without a warrant, just because they're overseas, what's next?
