Back-story: One of the LC crew lost an 11 magenta rev out of his rooftop box about 2 months ago along Hwy 101.
Today someone came in to the shop (Oregon Surf Shop) inquiring about how much one of those “things in the blue bag” might be worth. He explained that his buddy had found one about 2 months ago in the same location of the loss and they were pretty sure it was worth something. I asked to have his “buddy” call me, that there might be a reward for the lost kite and we knew who lost it. Long story short I got “buddy’s” call searching for cash and explained that we would make it worth his while if he just returned the kite. Just in case “buddy’s” honesty does not prevail; If anyone happens to see a nearly new magenta kite only size 11 being sold by someone who knows very little about kiting would you please let me know?
Thanks,

I have been combing CL everyday as some scumb bag son of a bitch stole a 48" wide commercial brush mower out of my trailer on saturday night. No big deal I guess, its only going to cost me about $2,800 to replace |

yeah, its been great so far.
1. First wake up to go to Jones and my mower is gone. -ok mower is gone but fuck it I'm going kiting in 9m conditions so no sense getting poopy pants
2. Get to jones...not even a puff of wind. Oh well, I don't have to leave until 5:30 ..it will pick up.
3. Break wrist skimboarding.
4. 5:20 wind instantly turns on and its time for me to go. I scramble around trying to find a way back to pdx while everyone is pumping up.
5. I realize I lost my $100 native sunglasses.
5. My office manager laughs when I told her I broke my arm.
6. People keep asking me to take on more work when I have too much already and now I type like a 4th grader.
Sigh. At least I can vent. |

OT: Spike that is a funny profile pic.
Maybe everyone should use it on kiteforum...I mean if we pop up in one nonsensical thread with that pic...

Spike, its ok to be a dick from time to time, just don't be a dick...all the time.
Rubbing someones face in the fact that they got their shit stolen out of a roof top cargo box...that we qualify as being a dick. No? |

It is sad to hear, but I've seen it so often though, its along the same lines as people who loose their board and don't have their number on it. It's unfortunate we have to be so careful all the time, and I didn't mean to be a "dick".
Those rooftop boxes are prime targets for stealing stuff because all you have to do is cut one flimsy padlock or just pry the thing open. They are good for transport, but not safekeeping. |

well whatever we think padlocks only helps keeping honest people honest..they will never stop someone form taking something.
I mean having lived in Amsterdam you had to lock even the worst bikes with at least two locks...
Having gotten several outboard engines stolen after bolting them to the boat leaves my a litt..there is nothing I can do..if they want it they'll take it (they being thieves in this case). |

Hey Ben, do you have a picture of the truck? That way it will be a lot easier to recognize than from a description. Last edited by Spike on Tue Aug 26, 08 12:24 pm; edited 1 time in total |

In the spirit of piling on - you're a tremendous dick (it sucks to have your stuff jacked) - but I think you also are incorrect - I would think your rocket box is much, much less likely to get hit than having anything visible in the car - what do you do when you road trip - hide your shit in your tent? It sucks to have think about this everytime you stop at a remote spot. Took my parents hiking Eagle Creek on a busy Sunday the car next to mine got hit. Bastards. _________________ Go Deep!

| I was out solo a Mosier a couple of years ago (what a easy target just watch the big kite to know when the guy is comeing in) They got my wallet but my heart sank when I saw my new kite(had not flown it yet)was gone. Then as I walk around the back of my truck I see my kite laying their with a little pulled out of the bag. The guy must have thought it was a back pack full of stuff and droped it when all he found was some fabrick. |
