No, I'm a Linux abuser. My favorite user interface is a command line. Cool

Installed software is old school, I try to have as much as possible on the web Gmail, Google Docs, DropBox, etc..

I get so tired of managing installed software on different machines, and always having to deal with updates. If you do everything online then you are always at home wherever you are.

And the more you do online, the less important the OS is...

Here's an interesting article about things to come:

Oh yeah and managing software in a large enterprise IT environment is even worse than at home... lots of organizations like the one I work at are looking seriously at jumping ship altogether and going towards hosted services, doing everything online.

One google ad says "Patch Tuesday made me switch to Google Docs."

So true...

As long as I am up at 3am pontificating on this, one more thing...

I am amazed how much bloat gets added to Windows by the OEM distributors. Pretty much any Dell I ever bought I wiped clean first thing and started out with a fresh install of windows.

Out of the box the PC would always be laggy from the million things that get installed by Dell. With a fresh install it was always much faster and cleaner interface.

I think that fact alone has probably tainted a lot of folks views on PCs and Windows. There is something to be said about Apple delivering the whole package and trying to make it all very seamless and elegant. They make enough money off of the cost of the hardware that they don't need to load the thing down with a bunch of demo bloat ware that software companies pay them to put on there.

Plus their hardware is damn sexy. I love my IPhone, but still can't pony up for a MacBook though, too damn expensive... envious of my friends who got em though.

Anyway, who cares. I'm just happy that I have a backspace and a delete key.

Don't forget the right click.

If Itunes is one of Apple's "awesome" programs. I think I'll stick with my PC.

I've been running win 7 RC since May and I've not had one single problem.

I always partition my hard drive and usually I run Ubuntu and Win. So doing a full wipe for me on one of the partitions is no problem.

I believe that this is one of Macs true marketing ploys. Ubuntu and Win, WTF, Partitioning and wiping? F that, I don't even know what you are talking about, but I do remember the biannual reinstalls of all the shit on my PC. I would waste a night or two.

Those days are over. Plug in my Time Capsule turn on the Macbook Pro, and there you have it, backspace key, delete key, and , i know you are surprised , but a right mouse click. Those days of being a Microsoft prisoner are over. You programmer / superusers can have them. Me, I am fine with my life back and being just a "user" . Maybe I will get more time to kite.

Itunes is such a piece of crap music program. It is the most unfriendly pain in the ass thing to use. It never sorts ur music right and has no album covers for even the most popular albums. What a joke.
MS Zune program is so user friendly and easy. Apple can take itunes and its habit of making every song its own album and shove it.

Here's my two cents:
Generally like windows operating system.
Love my iphone... but texting is a bitch.
Hate itunes.. the fact that they change the Mp3 to their format, the general operation of program.

As I now have titanium implants, I am at peace with becoming BORG. Bring on the internal computer!

The quality is there but paying for image is not optimal.

I'm a power user PC

linux and mac are both derivatives of Unix. So I always find it funny when people bash one vs the other.

ironically linux is the cheapest thing out there and mac is the most expensive. huh....wonder how that happened?

windows XP pro was very good. yeah you still gotta do spring cleaning on it to keep it running quick but I've accepted that. I'm dredding the fact that next time I buy a PC it will be beyond the abilities of XP.

iphones are cool but what about the droid?

I say let google blow microsoft and apple out of the water by coming out with there own desktop operating system that has stability, security and somehow magically supports everything.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are already working on it. Hope everyone is ready for google to take over the world.

For all the trash talk I thought more people would've known about the Google OS project.

well I've used many different operating systems. I started on windows then worked my way to mac. The thing is there both CRAP. I really started to get into Linux, and so far my favorite is Ubuntu 9.10 . Right now I'm running windows 7 and Ubuntu. so far Ubuntu is the fastest OS I've ever seen, even faster than mac (It only uses about 300 mb or ram or less). I also use a thing called WINE, it emulates windows so i can play windows games and software on my linux.

I just got windows 7 and I think I like it better than XP so far. But NOTHING CAN BEAT LINUX, and I if u think mac or windows is better please tell me why.

I like the idea of linux but never liked the learning curve. also didn't really like how difficult it can be to find drivers for hardware especially since there is sooo many different versions of linux and just because something works with one version doesn't mean it will work seamlessly with the next.

It seems like if you are comfortable with it and you like to tinker and make everything highly personalized then linux is a good fit. I just can't handle the mindset of nothing working right the first time and always needing a little tweak to make it work with my setup. I'm sure some people love that though.

in addition I know a few linux guys and was always very overwhelmed with the command line approach to solving problems large and small.

I don't really think there is a perfect solution out there for everyone. windows fits me currently. I just wish I could get final cut for windows.
