Wow
thats just awesome what you can do with the phones these days . I don't own one ( cell ) I am having a hard time finding phone booths these days . It's a conspiracy to get everyone using these things so they can get in your head and .................
At least when I do find one and put my change in it ( 25cts for unlimited ) I don't lose the call until I or the other party hangs up . My daughter just got a new I phone too . Now she's working on Dad to get up to date.
I ask her why she's not kiting yet !
I'm on youtube , isn't that enough for now ( kitesurf gopro first )

Now, for the important stuff, how do you get videos to migrate to it? I tried a few things with this awesome classic, but all was no go Sad

Straight download doesn't sync. download helper (firefox) requires external program (?) for iPod conversion. Lost at the moment, help?

The easiest way to get videos on your Iphone is to return it under the 30 day return policy and get a Tilt 2. Very Happy Just as easy to use, more apps by far, easier to download your own files to, better screen, better battery life, replaceable battery, replaceable memory chip, you can internet tether your laptop with no additional fees, better apps, GPS works independently of cell coverage with Garmin Mobile XT, Slide out keyboard, better bluetooth voice dialing, Better as a phone, no need to "Jailbreak" to get useful apps on it, a couple taps on the screen and I have wind reports, USB connectivity, Same price as the Iphone at an AT&T store but far cheaper online, etc, etc.

Cons: You have to add a couple of free apps to get it to be just as good a music player and picture viewer as the Iphone. No free wind meter. It weighs 1.5 ounces more. Rolling Eyes

Got my Tilt 2 a couple of weeks ago and love it! ( Could you tell? ) Very Happy I was going to get an Iphone but it was just too restricted by Apple as far as apps & content. Then the Tilt 2 came out.

Ummm, just as a clarification of fact (as it really doesn't matter what phone you have)

But as of this morning, there are 99,152 different apps available for the i-phone. So in short, there is no freaking way in hell that some new ATT phone will have (or ever have) that many apps.

Does sound like a great phone, the ability to read and edit MS files would be nice to do. And to be able to finally chuck Itunes in the garbage. But I love my i-phone..and its free so...

Its kind of funny that when the i-phone and touch screen came out all the blackberrry people joked that it was a colorful little toy and now all there popular phones looko like the i-phone.

I only use wind on the water and terimina these days so you only need a standard phone for that.

I know, I was just picking on the Iphone. Very Happy I didn't mean to start a brand vs brand thing here! Very Happy

The Iphone truly is a great little device. If Apple hadn't been so greedy with it, I'd have one in my pocket. The Iphone is what got everyone else off their ass & start building decent smartphones. IMHO though, Apple might want to stop being so restrictive. Now that the WinMo and Android phones have caught up in terms of ease of use & style, the Iphone might have a difficult time maintaining market share. Internet sharing is only one example. With an Iphone, you have to pay what, $50/month extra to tether your laptop to it? With a WinMo or Android phone, you can do it with no extra charges over your regular data plan. (AT&T doesn't want you to know that & tried to disable it in their WinMo phones. A simple Tweak restores it. )

Yeah, I agree that apple is a greedy and restrictive company. Funny how that as a whole they are viewed as this friendly happy go lucky company for creative people yet they stunt creativity and sharing of information more than MS does. No flash player for a internet phone? yeah, that makes sense.

I have faith that someone will develop a tether program for phones that gets around the "play to play". I ahve unlimited internet access..so what the diff if I'm surfing on my phone or tethering to a lap top?

You're probably right about the tethering, probably already done.

When I'm on the road, it's just a lot easier to use my laptop. No matter how good the phone, nothing beats a full size keyboard and a 10 or 12 inch screen. (OK, an even bigger screen, but thats too much to carry along with everything else. Very Happy ) The work sites I access won't work on a mobile phone either. So it's a huge benefit to me to be able to plug my phone into a USB cord & access the internet with my laptop. The hotels we stay at stateside usually charge $25 to use their internet...

Looks like you have a reason to tether, since you need to access some poorly designed sites that are written for one browser only or are flash heavy Sad I cannot see any reason for tethering laptop to suffer 3GS slowness, but now with my laptop connected to my phone Rolling Eyes

Oh, and WinMo sends me in anaphylactic shock whenever I am near it. I put a hammer to my Axim over frustration with this stupid OS Evil or Very Mad WinMo no more.

If you're on 3.0, no need to jailbreak to tether via USB...

If you're on 3.1+, jailbreak! I'm on 3.1.2 using MyWi and PDAnet. Both work awesome!

You have no idea! Shocked We merged with this other airline Evil or Very Mad and from an IT standpoint it's like going back in time 15 or 20 years. Rolling Eyes

Yeah, my Tilt 1 took a month of tweaking just to get it to run right. This Tilt 2 is tons better though. With HTC's TF3D interface, you hardly ever deal with the WinMo under it. Only when you're tweaking it, of which it doesn't need much.

Adam, does that allow you to tether without paying AT&T's tethering charge? If so I'll pass that along to some friends of mine, they'll be thrilled!

Yup... no charge. Supposedly any AT&T subscriber with unlimited data is still capped at 5gb/month, so you still wouldn't want to go nuts.

Here's the download if you're on 3.0 (haven't tested this myself on my 3gs, but it worked great my friend's 3g) - http://www.benm.at/2009/06/13/helpbenmat/

And as I said before, if you've got a 3gs, or any upgraded 3g (that can't be downgraded to 3.0), you'll have to jailbreak.

P.S. - I still love WinMo! Every phone I've ever had except for my first Nokia has been on it... The iPhone's jailbreak/app stuff is just too good. Still can't type as fast without a real keyboard though... Twisted Evil

The iphone apps kill anything blackberry or android will have for a while. There are even two with videos and techniques:

Kitesurf Instructor (I think done by someone on NWKite)
Kiteboarding Vol 1 (from Hatteras)

The only issue with the iphone is the keyboard sucks.

Some are free, some you pay for...

If you jailbreak, most (ie. the ones that have been cracked) are free!
