Athlete & Volunteer BBQ Feast, Friday, Aug. 8
At the Hood River Event Site
KB4C is hosting a catered Pulled Pork & Saucy Chicken BBQ on Friday night for volunteers and registered athletes! If you are already registered as an athlete or as a volunteer, come down for a homestyle BBQ feast, catered by Apple Valley Country Store in Hood River. If you haven't registered yet as an athlete, come down and register Friday night. Here are the details...
4:30pm Volunteer Meeting & Check-in: If you have signed up to be a volunteer, come to the meeting and get your assignment and details. If you haven't signed up, but would still like to volunteer, please email tonia@kb4c.org ASAP.
5-6:30 pm Pre-registration & New athlete Check-in: Athletes who have already registered online can pick up their athlete packets, which include their jersey, t-shirt, and swag. If you have not registered yet for the race and long jump, bring $100 cash or check and we'll get you registered and checked-in for the event!
6:00 pm: BBQ Feast! Free for registered athletes and volunteers with assignments. $10 per person for spouses, friends, and family. Hosted by Kiteboarding 4 Cancer and cooked up by the BBQ master Justin White and his team from Apple Valley Country Store in Hood River.
9:00 pm: The "Un-athlete" Party, River City Saloon: Feel like getting your party on instead of a little shut-eye and rest for the Kite Derby on Saturday? The Quick & Easy Boys will make sure of it: http://www.thequickandeasyboys.com/music.html
Note: There will be no kiteboarding from the Event Site Friday. Kiteboarding 4 Cancer does not have kiteboarding access from the Event Site until Saturday. _________________ Cascade Kiteboarding

I've been told that I should clarify that this BBQ Friday night is not your average throw-hotdogs-on-the-weber-in-the-sandbar-parking-lot-BBQ.
This is a spread of sauced-up pulled pork and chicken with beans, slaw and lots of sauce on the side. Catered by Apple Valley Country Store in Hood River, this is quality barbecue that will put some fuel away for the next day. Cookies provided by Burgerville. Beverages courtesy of Apple Valley Country Store and Vitamin Water.
Registered Athletes and Volunteers get it FREE.
Spouses, friends, and family are $10 per person.

Food was awesome and the organization was dialed!!
Tomorrow is looking to seriously be a kick ass event.
Now my only problem is determining how to manage my energy enough to kite 6 hours and still hang on through the evenings festivities.
BTW - At Saturday evenings party @ The River City Saloon we are planning on having a Shot-Gun or Brew-Ski competition with teams representing West Coast, Mid West and East Coast Kiters. Bring it on!
