				| Mon Aug 04, 08 9:15 am    Staying in Portland!!! | |
				|
 |
				| I just accepted a job here in Portland. I quit my last job back in February cus it sucked the big donkey kong. Not the wimpy donkey kong Jr. climbing rope crap - I'm talking the 2 ton barrel throwing donkey kong!
I've had six months off scoring powder days at Meadows and catching wind wherever it may be. Its been sweet. But alas - all good things must come to an end. Had a hard time finding a good job that would be a good fit - I was seriously considering going back to Phoenix where I grew up and have a lot of contacts. But if I were to go back to Phoenix I would have to give up kiting for the most part and accept miniscule snowboarding

so anyways, just accepted the offer and I have to start August 18th. Bad news is I won't be able to kite as much - good news, I get to stay in Portland.

Just had to share my stoke!!!! Happy to be here in the NW - looking forward to many more years of powder and wind!!!

So everyone is going to have to put up with me and my GoJo for a little while longer

				| Hey Moto, glad to hear you're staying in the PNW!!! Besides, a life without kiteboarding (once you've been exposed to it) would surely not be as fulfilling. Last edited by jbruxer on Mon Aug 04, 08 1:41 pm; edited 1 time in total

I know what yer saying. I had no idea how much kiting would become a part of my life when I started. But if I had to go back to phoenix I would definately miss it and think of it often.

Yeah - it has been pretty sweet sleeping in, kiting as much as possible, mountain biking, hitting the gym, hanging out with friends - definately good times. But its going to be a tough transition to get back into the day to day life of working again.

  	  | Quote: | | I feel you! when I left AZ I did not care if I EVER saw another lizard or indian jewelry store in my life. I came to Portland to visit a HS friend who moved up here, and my supposed to be '2 weeks here' turned into 19 years. |

Dude, a job actually brought me to Portland. But that job fell through - but I decided to stay because I love the place. Its money. When I was younger I wasn't sure if I wanted to leave phoenix - it was all I knew for the most part. All of my friends told me I shouldn't leave - that I would hate anywhere else - that Phoenix has it all and there is no reason to leave. I remember thinking - how would you know? You have spent your whole life here. I just had to get out and explore a different part of the country - eventually I thought I would move back though. not anymore - I don't want to go back. The rain is very tough to deal with - but the other aspects of portland are super saweet!!! So this is my home - at least for the foreseeable future!!!

Hahaha dude - burn it? No way man - I want my money back!!
Dude, that kite was sweet - a nice SI kite. Had me riding when almost no one else was out there.

There is definately beauty in the state (Grand Canyon) and a wide diversity - but its not for me man. I go back and visit family several times a year - I think that is enough for now.

But the bottom line is that I am staying here in Portland - very stoked to be able to kiteboard (I'll be gratefull every time I hit the water). Life takes a lot of interesting twists and turns - just trying to go along for the ride!!!

Let me guess. Your new dream job is a Quality Control Tester for an ankle weight manufacturer.

				| Great news Martin!!! Glad you'll be around. But, What is the deal with the chaps???

AZ is a nice place, lived there for 3 years... There IS a lot of beauty and majesty there, even around Phoenix.
Four peaks, Sedona, The Mogion rim, the river canyons... That said, I really don't ever want to live there again. Now Hawaii, I miss living there A LOT!!! | |
