Sun Aug 03, 08 8:35 pm Kiters Spotted launching and flying kites at Event Site |

Saturday following the Blow-out there were two kiters spotted not only launching, but flying and crashing their kites multiple times. Fortunately the combined CGKA-CGWA BBQ was going on so we could smooth things over----

i will tell you they were severely punished for this action (lost story at bedtime) and i will work hard to prevent these young vagrants from particapating in such a blatant disregard of port rules in the future.
however i will say the fairy princess kite was suprisingly manuverable for a one line and i could handle pass it and kite loop it with ease. i think gman, pkh and trevor will agree with this assessment.
the boy clearly was thinking safety by wearing his helmet, and his safety release only malfunctioned once requiring an all out sprint by the gear caddy to prevent complete carnage to downwind spectators.
i do actually believe this could be the future of our sport as we look for ways to get our wind rush and time or location or wind is not optimal. theses kites fit in your pocket. just pull it out and go. with this setup gman could get his session 365 days a year going strapless on a barge or even in a bathtub. just a hint to the kite manufacturers, you should be marketing these kites with your logos to the 3-5 year olds who will be your future grom team riders in ten years.

The port security should have tazered those kids, then maced them, then hauled them off to endure a day of kite training at the hands of Buleu99!!

I was looking for a place to fly my single line kites and a couple stunters and smaller foils when I found this site.
I figured who better to know the winds then kite-boarders.
This thread caught my eye because it raises the possibility that I might be in conflict with your activities.
Obviously you guys were very gentle with the kiddies but am I going to get hollered at if I fly some laundry at any of the parks up the gorge?
I know better than to put a bunch of lines out over the river where you guys are sailing but is there anything else I need to watch for?
Thanks, Joel.

Nah, we're all just joking around, cuz the spot in those pics (Hood River Event Site) is a no-go for kiteboarding. We are relegated to second class citizenship over at the gaybar, I mean sandbar.
You may very well get hassled by some self righteous windsurfing twat who cant bear the thought of sharing his little beach. If that happens, laugh in in his face, tell him that only schmucks, kooks, and beginners sail the event site, and only an utter douche would want to lay any kind of "claim" to it. Then fly your kite anyway, the sign says "no kiteBOARDING", not "no kiteFLYING".

Thanks Pacspeed,
Technically then I could barefoot across the grass in a good blow on my little 3.6M (no board)
Joel.
