We have 39 available spots remaining for the Blowout.
The online registration is closed.
You can still sign up before the race at the Stevenson east point launch.
Make sure to get there early to secure your spot for the race.

The wind looks good for Saturday.

Trust me on this one its going to Blow your doors off

Just out of curiosity, how many people are signed up? Was there 100 spots total?

Come on guys!! where the hell is everybody?? If you any of you are competent kiteboarders then you should come out and represent. Think of how much an event like this will boost your confidence. I'm not saying come out if you haven't even water launched or can't stay upwind, but if your riding and jumping and basically have your shit together, then come out and play!!

I love my KB brothers and almost everyone I meet is really cool, but I have to tell you, the number of people who push themselves, take chances or just say "fuck it, I'll try that unhooked move or land to blind or whatever" just seems to be really really low for a sport that is supposed to be so "extreme".

If the thought of riding 17 miles downwind in varying wind conditions makes you nervous...that is even more reason to do it!!

Ok, my 4 hours of sleep, 5 cups of coffee 138 page report due today rant is over.

Yeah, I'm signed up but still need to find a surfboard with straps to borrow for the race.

Make sure you don't try the glide Confused

Henry, I have a 6.1 strapped surfboard if you (or anybody else for that matter) wants to borrow it. It's kind of beat up but it seems to work really well for kiting. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll bring it out- otherwise its staying at home.

There is one sitting in my living room that is not going to be used on Sat cause we are helping at the Blowout. I bet if your really nice to PKH you could borrow it. The straps are in the bag you just have to put them on.

Oh Yes, straps sure help keep the board on your feet if you become overpowered:

6 of us made the run from Stevie to HR around 4 today. Myself, Carol, Brad, Pat, Mike, and Mike! (left around 4). We had a 9, 10, 12's and a 15! Perfect conditions down past Home Valley but the stretch from Viento to the hatch was nukin! Had the kite parked at noon a couple of times while I went skipping over the waves!

Big thanks to Jordan for following us down in the van and bringing us back from HR!

Have you considered that some people are gonna practice landing to blind, wrapped, upside down, etc. instead of the race? It's a great event, just saying you might not wanna put everyone in the same bunch.

I'm not saying that you have to do the blowout to push your limits. I am simply acknowledging that many kiters (or any other sport for that matter) get stuck in a rut.

Word! That is definitely a common problem, and I've been stuck in it myself a few times. You just gotta keep pushing yourself and try new things. The blowout will be good for that no doubt.

It just seemed odd to me that there was still a bunch of spots open thats all. My thought was that perhaps there are allot of kiters in the area that were like, hmm, well, I'm not sure, seems like a long way, maybe I'll get overpowered, maybe I will have to self rescue.. etc etc etc.

I realize that I shouldn't really give a shit about what some of my friends are doing on the water but at times I just can't help to think they are missing out on quite a bit of fun just mowing the lawn and boosting.

At any rate, I couldn't be more stoked about the blow out!!!
