I saw Slingshot's "incentive" on the T3 on ikitesurf today, and it got me thinking that the economy is likely going to take a bite out of kite industry revenue. Less disposable income = less kites. Seems like many struggling companies may fall out, and more established will likely see lower revenues for a few years.

With all the newbs at the spit, maybe you guys are thinking otherwise. Hoping this is not the case, but realistically, think it is.

Actually, the biggest scare is preparing for the increase in pricing for kiteboard products going into 09'. Rumors are that we should expect at least a 10% price increase due to the rise in oil prices (think raw materials, product, and shipping= all oil dependent).

The windsurf industry is going to get hit even harder with board production mold pricing going up in Thailand, as well as the ever increasing displacement in value between the Euro and the US dollar.

We've been telling people to make sure to get their gear in 08 and not wait until the 09 gear comes out, because the 09 stuff is certainly going to make a jump up in price.

For some reason when things get tight, the smaller companies are the ones that seem to benefit. Less overhead and less inventory allow for quick adjustments in production and distribution.

The T3 rebate offer was a good way for Slingshot to try to help encourage sales on the T3 for those customers that might have been hedging on small price differences between the T3 and it's competitors.

Since there have been a lot of customers concerned about if they would evenbe able to receive the rebate from Slingshot, or do not want $200 of Slingshot clothing, our shop is just offering the $200 rebate in addition to our current 2nd Wind Sports shop price for all T3 kites sold complete.
I hope that this answers your questions.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me, or call the shop and ask for either Matt, Mike, Anna or Pepi to help answer any T3 questions you may have.

Thanks
Pepi
