Mon Jun 16, 08 9:31 am 2009 Slingshot FreeStyle Collection.....word ? |
|
|
Shy,
Any news you can share on the Freestyle Collection?
I received the email message Saturday, checked online and see the blurb about it (http://buyslingshotsports.com/s.nl/it.I/id.101/.f), but it doesn't contain any concrete information.
What's up? As in, what are the changes to the Fuel and to the bar? Thanks!
Btw, this is a little off the topic of this thread, but I cannot believe the light wind performance of the Lunacy 129. It is not something I was looking for at all when I got that board. But it is a nice characteristic. Funny in that a friend is considering getting a 132 (or whatever the largest '09 Lunacy will be) and getting rid of his "Super Fatty" (wide Aggression board). Funny meaning this flat water freestyle board is preferred over a board built specifically for light wind riding. Anyway, thought I'd mention that bonus. Also, I've decided it should be pronounced "Luna chee"...as in an Italiano-Netherlanders inspired board....ya, maybe that one might not catch on....

Yo Jimmy
The Freestyle collection will consist of pro bar, kite, and board. Which will be an all white collection for Ruben which will be available for 09. But as you know the Lunacy boards are already out and riders are stoked! So now the wait is on for the Kite and Bar!
Haven't been on the 09 Fuel but its gonna be another winner for sure!
4 line perfection!
Once the time is right i will fire some photos... Sick pic by the way!!!!
Cheers and thanks for the Slingy support!

Shy,
Is Ruben using the pro bar in the pic below? Or is it just a white handle on an 05 bar?

Yep that's it. No safety, 800 lb 20M lines, Clip & Ride, thicker grip, and trim above.
The Pro bar, can you handle it....

| Hah, shit is coming full circle. So the new fuels/pro model relaunch well with just four lines? Does it relaunch like and SLE, or more of a reverse launch?

I've seen it done both ways. Ruben's really good at reverse launching it, then dropping a rear line to make it flip real, but it rolls over quite easy!
And the '07-08s could do it as well, but it definately seems quicker now.

Looks killer I always liked the simplicity theme of the '05 era. Curious why thicker grip ?

Yeah, but with the depower above, you only have like 6" of bar sheeting!

bigger bar is easier for the one handed stuff. big in the center is very nice..... and the 05 somple set up will be nice to revisit w/o having to retro modify the new stuff.
keep slinging.......ye haw.

Shymac,
I noticed "no safety" buried in the sentence along with the other positive selling points of the kite bar. Does Slingshot really want to have their name attached to that innovation?
Besides, it looks like you could just clip the handle-pass leash to the O.S. handle on the rear line, and you would have a traditional rear line re-ride safety.
Also, has the "Mickey Mouse Eared" swivel been redesigned to not jam up?
Sorry to come across as critical or negative, as I am actually a big Slingshot fan.

| I have actually been intereted obtaining a fuel for some time, but was somewhat discouraged by the 5th line (I dread bowties). Are there going to be any demo videos out soon showing the relaunch of the 09 fuel? Is there a reason for the "no safety" system? It doesn't seem like Rev bar would be incompattible (or is it?). Some insight into this kite would be nice. I'm a big fan of SS, but still prefer some level of safety if I'm buying something new.

Its made for Ruben, so if he doesn't want the Rev/T3 style below the bar safety then they aren't going to make it.
It still has the "oh-shit" handles ... so really its just the same as the 04 bar.

Florian, you CAN relaunch the '07-08 FUELs (which came with a more REV like bar) fairly easy on just 4 line... It's not as simple as a REV/T2-3, but they will roll over.
I have a few clips of Ruben reversing his '09s off the water, then flipping it, but I won't post just yet.
On his '07s ( ~4:08 )... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1o8LO02oxc

| looks like quite a hot-launch. I'll have to demo some fuels at stevo. Are they open on weekends?
