Her: Are you going kiteboarding today?

He: You know, I've been riding a lot lately. Let's spend the day together and do what YOU want to do.

He: Free brownie points earned and stored!

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Should have gone on down the road to Jones; It's blowing 23 there now... If you're new around here, use the gust factor to judge the wind at the Jones sensor.

20mph gusts on the sensor = 20mph on the water for Jones

Oh,...thats the way the sensor works...I was beginning to wonder...

(It came up so late-- I didn't think the 1.5 hr drive was worth it--)

The Jones sensor is located on, or near, that house with the blue roof over on the Wa side, partially blocked with trees. Nuclear Alley is what it used to be called over there.
Always, when reading the sensor data consider the gusts as the real on-the-water wind... as pkh stated.

And add another 5-10mph for Nuclear Alley (the WA side of river). If it's gusting over 15mph on a regular summer day it's probably blowing over 20.

Jones - Cathlamet section of the river has a more appropriate name, the Sewer. Look where your down stream of. Anyway.

Astoria - Longview temps and pressure, will tell the story. It's a miny Gorge and a nice cloudy day at Astoria = 55-60 degrees, Longview and Sunny = 75-80, or even 90 in the real summer. That all means wind. It typically starts late and blows late.

Good days will be around 3-4 pm when the mid day heating has began to max out.

Nice Sandy beach oregon, rocky launch Washington.

The fisherman never did not care for windsmurfs, so I cannot believe they feel any different about kites, give them room, Cool

It is also tidal influenced which effects the swell, and the wind is typically stronger on the Washington side.

Overall a good place, but a shower and rinsing of the wetsuit is recommended.

newgirl looking for kite krew friends! - Goto the Sandbar. that krew is chill Cool
