Here is the Corbett sensor. Shows a gust of over 60. Plus that 10 low of the river speed. We were in a wind shadow but how much of one? Shocked

the Washougal spot was a little on the crazy side so everyone left the scene, but here's a couple more shots of the beach area...

Any witnesses, pics, battle wounds from today?

Anyone game for tomorrow? This spot looks good if the wind fills in. Its right when you come into Camas were the Washougal river runs into the Columbia.

Didn't take any pics today because I was too busy freezing my ass off after getting lofted several times... No one was really on the water right as Mark and I got off anyways. My kite was doing weird things on the edge of the wind shadow (flying backwards in gusts, going sideways, etc.) so I was a bit worried, thinking I might get hucked into the brush. Hypothermia was making me all crazy, and since I don't have Oneline, I thought about pulling one of my "oh shit" handles and ditching the bar to "land", but my suicide leash was still locked on my clip & ride so luckily I didn't do that... Would have been some nasty kiteloops!

Might think about going out tomorrow if its any mellower. There's just no way I can hold down my 7m when 170lbs+ guys are super-overpowered on the same size kite. Confused

Is there places to park for this other spot Rico, or do you just stop wherever and hike? I've gotta Google Earth it since I don't know exactly where it's at.

Adam,
Fun riding/lofting with you today.

What about that spot to the west of where we were. The one I pointed to on the way home?

The wind seemed allot more civilized thru that area. I did see a boat launch there.

I talked to someone on Sunday (who reads nwkite.com). He said he kites around 192nd (in vancouver). It looks like you can take 164th exit (head south), then take the evergreen highway to get there. Look at the google map to see.

He likes to fly his 19M there, so it might be a more calm place, and maybe a great place on these high wind days. It's just a little out of the way heading to the Camas spot, so if someone is heading there, maybe they can check it out tomorrow.

Yea, I had fun too in the short time we were out! As far as riding tomorrow, I think I'll be down, but I we'll see for sure tomorrow. Depending on the wind I was thinking about further west (like the area you pointed out), or maybe even the airport. Normally I like riding powered on my small kite, but that stuff was just outrageous. If anyone goes out, let us know...

P.S. - J. Carey, get your lazy bitch ass back to Portland so you can experience this "9 meter" wind. I'd love to see you hold that shit with 60mph gusts! It would however, give you the fuckin' air time for your double-handlepass 360-420's...

Drove out to RR today. WOW Shocked windy! very cool to see the white mist devil winds. Went to crown point and talked with a guy with a anamometor, Watched constant 50 with gusts to 80. So windy it was difficult to stand.

Very cool!
