Was thinking of heading that way for the long weekend since I am still a newbie and might be good to get back on my feet after a 6 months. Any thoughts just have this fear of loosing board at HR etc... I seem pretty proficient at body dragging self rescue etc but still new and a bit apprehensive.

The great thing about Floras is the boards mostly end up in one place....at the other end of the lake. Will can tell you where. Boards, bars, flotsam, and jetsam. You can find it all! Good place for treasure hunting, too.
It will be crowded there this weekend but it is a great place for beginners.
You could go to HR and just use the GoJo. Saw quite a few in Stevenson yesterday |

Saw quite a few in Stevenson yesterday | I was there and i remember seeing a few too many. seems like most of the body dragging for boards was because people threw their board in the water and proceeded to take 10 minutes to launch their kite, meanwhile the board casually drifts downriver, with the floppy bright green inflatable gojo thingie signaling its position. it seems like the gojo is a license for stupidity... and a great excuse not to learn how to keep your board on your feet or body drag back to it effectively. Body dragging isn't just for getting back to your board, it for getting back to shore when shit has hit the fan as well. |

Unfortunately, many new and old are taking the easy route. All who believe in self rescue and body dragging will come out on top in the end. I have to say though; the Gojo would have been nice starting out. Now I am better off I never had one. _________________ MS |

| i kinda feel the same way about my c-shapes. I feel like they made me a better kiter, even thought it would have been easier to learn on a bow... |

Definately feel the same way. The old school C kites were harder to learn on - but definately required for you to develop a lot of skills. |
