I wonder if there's a way to post wind conditions to this forum real time via txt msg?

And is that a good idea or a bad idea?..... Wink

On site reports of conditions would be very cool to have at sites with no, and or crap sensors.

Is there a service that a person could send a txt message too and it would then send out the same texts to a list of numbers?

Well if they are truly friends then you'll want them to know where you are going.

But nobody likes to announce where the best spot is going to be... its fun in the off-season when so few are kiting, but the middle of summer. yikes!

Haha, yeah, that's what I was thinking too. I almost didn't even send the initial post.

On the other hand, you could certainly post disinformation to keep crowds down. Guessing as to the accuracy of posts would be sort of like playing poker Smile

So it sounds like it would be cool to do off season or for unusual sites when you *want* other kiters to show up, but if the crowds are already there then more kites would suck.

I read in the Oregonian that there is going to be such a huge flotilla of raw sewage out at Sauvies later this week that you should be able to walk across the river without getting wet. Especially this Thurs night from about 4pm till dark.

In fact, anytime it gets hot out from now till the end of summer its supposed to be a real cesspool at the island.

I heard somebody kited there on a hot day last year, and later they turned green, foamed at the mouth, and then died. Shocked

yeah yeah yeah, enough about the CSO already.

Just as an FYI, not every single rain event causes CSO. Wait a day after any rain and your pretty safe.

Locally (east coast) we set up a twitter group so we can throw out on site conditions to anyone interested. One of the techie guys even had it dialed in to a google map so real time reports would be posted automatically. But now nobody uses either. Smile

Anyway, I think a Twitter group would be your easiest solution. You can probably set up a window on nwkite to monitor the chatter so anyone interested could just see it. FWIW.

I've tried to log into nwkite before from my phone, AT&T Tilt (Windows Mobile). However, I always get access denied, I guess IE mobile sends out some malformed headers Rolling Eyes

I had the same problem, but my Tilt works fine now... Here's the thread on the problem & the cure.
