Sadly the kiter who launched me the other day dragged my kite over some shells and put a rip and a hole next to the leading edge. The rip is about 1.25 inches long. Because of its proximity to the leading edge, I wonder if I should get it sewn or just leave it with a patch? Currently I put a 5inch patch over both punctures (both sides of the kite). Its located about 2feet off the center strut.
The other damage was a leading edge seam rip. I was going to put a patch on that as well but am also considering putting a a dab of Neoprene Cement on it. The only concern with thet cement would be if there are chemicals (Toluene, Mythyl Ethyl Ketone or anything else) that could damage the Dacron material of a kite. Any suggestions?

| i would not mess with neoprene glue. I highly doubt it will bond well to the Dacron or canopy material. I had two such 1.5-2" tears repaired by airtime just 2 weeks ago. it cost a grand total of 55 bucks, and the kite looks like new. The patch will hold fine (I patched mine for a few months before getting it all repaired after getting a second tear at rooster) but the glue residue will collect sand and slowly act like sand papaer and wear on the fabric.

| I would get it repaired by Marc Collins of KiteRx. Half the price of Airtime and usually overnite. See him at Stevenson or PM Dangler.
