Tue Apr 29, 2008 11:09 am Directions to spot East of Hood River? |
|
|
Ingo, a pilot from Germany is in Hood River for the day right now. The weather is a little iffy? Problem is, I've never kited East of HR... Can anyone give me some quick advice and directions to something better right now, so I can relay the information to him?
Thanks!

I've been here in rufus since last night.
Decent weather here, I'd call it partly sunny.there's wind, but also lots of fishermen.
Where is Ingo heading?
I could meet up almost anywhere

Ingo is heading to the big rock pile?
" Drive 84 to rufus take a left to the water. head back west to the big rock pile."
If you want, PM me your number and I can pass it along to Ingo. You don't want to call him, it's a German phone number!

Thanks guys for the great help. I met Stringer at Rufus and we had a great kiteboarding session today (20-35 knots wind, 4 ft swell in the Channel, sunny, only us 2).
And it was good not to be alone at Rufus. I had the honor to safe Stringer and his equipment after his kite got inverted. Without external help he would have lost his kite today.
This forum is so cool. Nak checked in real time all wind- and radar information while I was driving my car eastbound. Organized information in real time with this post. Unbelievable. Some SMS showed me the right way to the windiest spot today (Hood River was mostly rainy; only 30 minutes wind there; Dough seemed to work in the late afternoon, but also rainy weather). Thanks a lot for this great support!
Hope to be soon back in your paradise.

| Glad to hear it all worked out! Nice job getting the goods from the far east. Looked super steady on the graph.

I wouldn't say super steady, but it was sunny and fun!
I was super lit/totally overpowered on a 9m fuel.
It started to come up right before Ingo got there and just kept coming up.
Much thanks to Ingo for saving my gear, and Mike for getting things set up.

When do other people start showing up out east?
If anyone's planning on heading out there mondays-wednesdays hit me up.
It'd be nice to carpool out there or camp out to save on gas.
I just don't want to drive that far and watch awesome conditions go by with nobody to ride with.

What I forgot:
Stringer waited around 13.00 at the beach, but nobody arrived. Kiteboarding alone was to risky for him. So he decided to drive to Rufus to search an open WLAN. With this he could enter the forum and make his post….Then I called him. Just cool.
@Stringer: Next time you may save me
