What about a Carpool sticky or something? the other forums don't seem to get as much attention.

Then again I don't know if we need a carpool sticky all year.

Once the season starts cranking I'm sure you guys will find each other.

given my ranting about eco-stuff, i am ashamed to say:
1. i drive a big-ass v-8 titan penis extender (pulling a sanger for years, blah blah blah-anyone wanna buy a boat?)
2. maui next week and cabarete early june

whew, now i feel better. . .

having gotten that off my chest, i will be driving from snailem to steve and e/s & east starting about mid may and after we get back from mecca 20 june.

i can fit 4 of you guys, and more if ya dont mind riding under the canopy in back, I-5 to 84 east and out. . .

or 22 or 26 west and out.

pm me if ya want and i will post before travel and we can see what we can see.
i would trade some rides for a little gas and some tips on improving my lame-ass tricks and wave riding.

carol and tony, i will haul you just because you're cool:D

edit: sent my info to the carpool site, thanks phil, I apreciate the tip.

What if we add our personal kiteboarding schedule to our signature?

the "location" would allow people to see where you are leaving form

I'll be heading out most weekends (I hope) to either the Gorge (170 mile round) or Siletz (120 mile round) / Beverly (170 mile round) / South Beach (210 mile round) from Salem. Car gets 32 mpg, still gets expensive now at $3.60/gallon -> $4!!
Basically costs $20-25 to go kiting at any of those except the bay which is only $15 even at $4.

Can accomodate two nicely, 3 less nicely.

I changed the thread title so you guys can use this thread to find carpool hookups

Definitely for those going the long haul it'd be a good idea to carpool.

I am new to the area and wanted to get a feel for the river before it gets too crowded this summer. The winds this weekend look like 4-5m/s. Are they strong enough for a 21m kite and large board to at least get up and ride a bit?

Any comments are welcome.

Is anybody headed to teh Gorge this weekend?

21m KITE??? You'll need smaller than that

the gorge has mostly 7m-11m winds (15-30 mph), if you have something in that range you can meet everybody out at rooster rock state park tomorrow morning, but if a 21m is all you got, your best bet is a day at Sauvie Island, just to the east of Portland, where the wind usually pretty mellow and required big kites like that.

tomorrow is expected to blow around 20mph or so from the East

21M kite is freaking huge dude. Sauvie's is your best bet. 20 plus miles an hour is too much for that kite.

Coast is another option if you're rigging that big. Get some nice 10-15mph days in the summer - God help you if you drop it tho!
