I was on a 9 bow style and very happy. I weigh 195 lbs. Too much kite can be, well, too much.

Just kite often and it will all fall into place for you before you know it.

Do you think a 13 would have been too much at 180 lbs, Board was a 138 skywalker?

I do think that would have been to much. Eric is right, practice makes perfect. Doing longer tacks is the key, but when the water is this cold, don't kite further than you're willing to swim... It's hard to improve in cold ass water.
