Mon Apr 14, 08 11:17 pm SS Lines on a Powerdrive? |
|
|
So after the destruction of the lines on my Cab. Powerdrive 121 the other day at RR I was looking around at new lines, and there just aren't a lot of good sources for cab lines... like none, then they're $200 when you do find it and they aren't specific about what it fits... Plus I really don't like the plastic they put on their lines that made them fray in the first place!
So i was thinking about running some slingshot lines. Anybody have experience doing this w/ the Powerdrive 121 / recommendations? |

If you're using bulk line, how do you attach the lines pigtails since they're sewn on from the factory right? Use knots?

| I just tested that knot with Qline on my force gauge. It broke at 260 to 270 pounds of force in several different tests. That's about as good a knot as I've tested with that line... Still not great... |

| And the sewn loops? How about just the line itself? Also you arent putting all the force on one knot when riding but dispersed between 4 knots, granted unequal loading when flying |

I haven't tested the sewn loops, I'm guessing they are better. Just a guess though. The line itself is supposed to be 600 pounds. That gives the knot a 45% break strength. That knot, and others, are supposed to be better, but I personally have not found a better knot for Q-line...
It's still not likely to break under normal usage. Figure worst case scenario is all the load on the front two lines. Thats over 500 pounds of force required to break a line... |

| Best won't replace the bridle cuz it's over the 90 days warranty by like 90 days! But it's only like $30 or something, just have to order it. |

Mike, Mark, whatever... Yeah, I've not found any great knots. I think some kind of sleeve would help. The knot definately is cutting the line. If anyone has any ideas, i'd be glad to try knots on my test bench. I'd love to find a knot that had a higher breaking strength with the Q-line... |
