Hi All,
A bunch of snowkiters from the northwest (other areas too) are heading to Alaska for the Thompson Pass Snowkite RV extravaganza.
Four rental RVs are full already with people still coming. I just checked and there are still cheap flights available.
Here's the scoop:
March 21 - 31. Fly into Anchorage. Jump in an RV, snowkite Portage Glacier and spots along Turnagain Arm the first few days (with a possible air drop on to Harding Ice Glacier). Then onto the world renowned helicopter epic center: Thompson Pass/Valdez. We circle-park the RVs at the pass and snowkite, backcountry ride, and get a few heli-rides for 6 days.
Winter is not over yet!
Join the posse.
It is going to be SICK.
Ken

I live in Anchorage.
Twenty Mile river (5 min. from Portage, 40 min. from Anchorage) was under 3 feet of water this past Sunday. Turnagain Pass (20 min. from Portage and 1500' higher) was knee deep powder, which made things a bit slow on my 9m TD2. Also mixed use with snow machines and avalanche danger.
For best realtime weather, including webcams, places to kite, and great eye-candy, check out eastofanchorage.net.

Portage frame grab from onboard cam on my 5m HQ Montana. Miles and miles of smooth lake riding. 3 weeks ago some open water at the ranger station. |

Twentymile, 5m HQ Montana, way overpowered, and REALLY cold. Last Sunday under water and close to 40 above. |
