Hmm wonder how many 24/7 gorge locals are reading this and thinking: poor saps |

spike you are far from being alone on that one. Ask any puget sound kiter that calls the gorge their second home/playground in the summer. $80.00 roundtrip adds up quick. And thats just driving down and back. that doesn't include the extra fuel you can plan on burning to chase wind between bonneville and john day. Plus leaving that carbon foot print doesn't help our planet out much either.
kind of a neccessary evil to get to the gorge.
Have you considered other options, like either living closer to where you kite and taking advantage of city transit to get to work?
or even kiting locally around Portland?
Carpooling is a great idea for those who can do it.
for others asking about van camping, rufus has some of the best conditions in the gorge, but can be considered quite a drive for those in Portland. A measly 4 hour drive from Seattle but you can make it a weekend destination. Just park your car there and kite and you can stay there the whole weekend. _________________ www.jimstringfellow.com |

just in time to celebrate the weakened dollars buying power with 110 dollar barrels of sludge.
remember the days when they told us we have plenty of oil in oil shale and higher oil prices will make it worth extracting.......ooooppps
3.90 per gallon for diesel in places is brutal.
may have to start running the used motor oil for fuel. |

I have a job downtown now, and I'm nervous about leaving at 5 and sitting in traffic, I'm wondering how early I'd need to leave to avoid traffic...
I could be down to carpool.
For those trying to aviod the high gas prices: my friend and I are manufacturing and selling budget veg-oil conversion kits for diesels: http://www.poweredbyveg.com.
We can do conversions, too. |
Kyle, where do you get the veggie oil? From what I have heard, most resturaunts already have services that remove their oil. |
