Hi, does anyone know if there is any kiting in the Puerto Vallarta or Sayulita area? I have an opportunity to go there and was wondering if it was kitable. From what I can see, it isn't known for its wind but does anyone know anything? Thanks!

Hi, there is some kiting in Bucarias which is about 20 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. I'm told the season is usually late Feb through April for wind. I think it is "so so". I've been spending a lot of time surfing in Sayulita and have gone over there a few times to see what it's like and those days were dead. But it is a bit sailing area and La Cruz, nearby, is where they are building a huge marina and there are lots of sailing races there so there is wind sometimes.

I instructed a student 2 years ago who manages vacation rentals in Sayulita. He said the wind is very light at best. The surf is great tho.

Kiting in Bucerias is very good from March -end of may. Seabreeze starts about noon and blows to dark nearly every day during these times . Usually 15-20 knts. High in low 80's and very cheap low season lodging make this a great kite spot. Surfing is the game in town up north in Salulitis .

Anyone know about late fall (Mid-End Nov)? I know the wind isn't that great down in Baja then, so I imagine it to be the same in Bucarias?

Certain years Baja is actually blowing by second half of November, usually by December it's on. Don't know about these other places though.
