The past 2 seasons I have flown a 2006 waroo 7 and on lighter days in the gorge a 2006 turbo diesel 12. Last year I added a 2007 waroo 5. This bastard-child of a quiver has served me well but its time to move on. More often than not, I am on the waroo 7 but that kite gets really sketchy at the top of its range (as does the turbo 12).

This year I am upgrading all kites to revs and can't quite decide if a REV 11 or a REV 13 is the turbo 12 replacement. That is really my question. I'm leaning towards the 13.

I already have a REV 9. I am ready to get a REV 7 and either a REV 11 or 13. Any suggestions? I'm a light 160# and typically ride a SX board. Da gorge is my spot.

Thanks for any info, sorry for the essay.

Kirby

If you don't plan on riding anything less than ~20, I'd say you'd be good with the 11m. If you'd wanna dip into the teens, go with the 13. Tucker's ~165 and can ride most of the time on his 7/9/11 REVs and Lunacy.

Hey Kirby, 11 rev for sure is the replacement kite, love it, 13 is huge and rides like an 15. Hope that helps, LM

OK, lets add the OR coast to the mix and maybe S. Padre. Would the 7,9,13 rev quiver give me more flexibility when not in the gorge than the 7,9,11? Is the jump from the 9 to a 13 too much?

I would say 7 and 11 and throw in a fuse fro the coast and light wind days.

For your weight, the 13 would be overkill. I'm 205 (all muscle Confused ) and I'm still worrying that a 13 will be too much for light days in the Gorge. I ahve the 9 and I'm on the look out for a good deal on a 13.

Agree with everyone else, go with the 11. You are not that big of a guy and a 11 should be just fine. If light then ride a bigger board until the wind picks up.

I'm 205 (now) and I can ride my 11 rev down to about 17 with a glide. At your weight I'd guess you'd be good down to 12 with a glide? (Or similar lightwind board.)

I demoed the 13 and like it quite a bit too. If at all possible, I'd demo the 13 and the 11 back to back. My guess would be that you'd like the 11 like everyone says.

I am also thinking of replaing my current quiver with REVs, and would prefer to narrow it down to 2 kites is possible. I weigh about 210 and will primarily be riding at Stevenson, Sauvie's, coast. That being said, do you folks in the know suggest a 9&11 or a 9&13? Or do I really need a 9/11/13 or 7/11/13 quiver?

Thanks!

You could easily get away with 2 kites in my opinion. They have a good amount of overlap, so you don't have to worry about not being able to ride. I'd go with 9/13 in your case. You'd probably have an upper range ~30-35, and be able to go down to the mid-high teens without a problem.

Thanks for the advise! I'm on my way to get the 7 and 11 right now. Last night I had dreams of kiting - it's truly a sick addiction....

I would disagree that the 13m feels like a 15. It is still a pretty responsive kite, and much more so than the '07 13m Waroo.

My current quiver is a 7,9,11,13 Rev. I am about 200 lbs and can ride the 11m and glide in pretty much anything, but the 13 provides the extra grunt to do jumps and tricks at the very low end. We also have the 07 waroo 5m, not sure if I will get th rev 5 m. Since Janet and I both ride, I am ussually one size up from her.

Making the decision between the 11m and 13m would be very tough. The 11 is a sweet kite for the Rev. It handles high end very well, and is very nimble. If I had to mae the call I would probably go with the 11 and just ride a glide or not ride on the very light days. If I lived anywhere else in the US I would grab the 13. It still loops quite easily and doesn't seem like a monster when it is in the air.

I went 7, 9, 13 and while Kodiak has a couple pounds on me (not that many though) I wish I would of gone 11 instead.

I mainly ride Corpus now, and the 13 is sweet when its light, but once I'm getting over-powered the 13 pulls like a freight train.

now I am super tortured. 210lbs with a JL model III 133 (which is kind of small for my frame) and a Fuse. Would an 11 be good for sauvie days?

While its nice to be out on the water, I've been kiting enough that mowing the lawn isn't all that amusing to me anymore.

Also, it seems like the 13 would be overkill on pretty much any day in the gorge... so maybe I should get an 11?

I think the 11m would work for sauvie days if you got a glide, otherwise most Sauvie days the 13 would be better. Of course last year there was a lot of really strong Sauvie days...

Gotta figure, these hybrids are like a 1 size up C. If you could ride a 13m FUEL, then you'll be fine on the REV 11 (the REV has even a bit more low-end). REV 13 = at least a FUEL 15! Very Happy
