Just about a year old and with 50 sessions on it my favorite kite; a Waroo 9M blew apart today.

I was just heading out (thank goodness) when there was a lull followed by a gust and then POP!; the panels on either side of the main strut just ripped open all the way to the tailing edge. By the time I got the kite down the rip had extended laterally along the leading edge. Kite was toast; not worth salvaging.

I am not writing this to bash Best. The 9M waroo is the best flying kite I have ever tried and I plan on buying another to replace it. Just a warning to everyone that this can happen. Luckily I was close to shore and not a mile out.

Damn! That's messed up. Hope that doesn't happen to mine any time soon. I guess it always pays to check your kite thoroughly before launching.

You might be surprised what Airtime can fix for a reasonable price...

That sucks - but, the 2007's are 25% off at most places new. Bought one yesterday! Very Happy

Now was that a 8mph lull followed by a 30+ gust - did look pretty crazy out there. Have seen many flavors of kite explode when you get mondo up and down - althougth the 2006 waroos are always happier at the low end of the range. That does suck.

I was going to post about my 06 7.0 Waroo.
I noticed yesterday while finally fixing the small strut that would leak down in a couple hours .
That the stitching has come apart right next to the strut I would assume from causing the leading edge to bend too much when the strut deflated .
Then I was checking the other side and it too has some stitching coming loose also.
My wife stitched it up so hopefully,,,,
This is my main kite and for sure have got my moneys worth out of .

2 bridles and now some worn 3/16's Spectra inserts for the pulleys,, a lot of use.

That's cheap for last years kites ,
too bad I don't really care for the 07's
waiting to try 08's

Our learning experience with selling used Waroos this year, via our consignment section, has been to try and be as diligent as possible in checking out the seams and canopies on used Waroos. We had a couple of used Waroos completely blow up on customers within their first week of use (granted these were likely beginner/intermediate kiters). It resulted in our getting some negative feedback for having sold these kites (even though they were not our own).
With any kites, treat them as if they are an airplane. Give it a full flight check everytime and when it needs any maintanance change the parts that you can, and take it to Airtime for canopy/bladder tune ups that you can't do properly (cause' the are THE repair guys).
