Colby - have you thought about maybe trying the Gorge.net wireless? you could mount the dish on your RV maybe

This has been a cheaper, more reliable, contract-free alternative for me to Gorge.net:

http://www.hrec.coop/internet/sv-wireless.htm

For a cell phone I have an older Sanyo 4930 on an older CDMA plan. The voice quality is exceptional, coverage has been pretty much everywhere I've been in the country and even parts of Canada, the phone has lasted forever and had great battery life, and the data access to iKitesurf was dog slow but reliable. Generally speaking, more modern (3G/4G) networks steal voice bandwidth for data, so you get your web pages faster but sound like crap. When people I'm talking with sound like they're in a tin can and/or drop calls I ask if they're on AT&T. They usually say yes. Unfortunately most everyone in Hood River uses AT&T so we hooked my Mom up with a plan on them because mobile-to-mobile is free.

Coverage around the Gorge usually drops out around Dee-Parkdale on 35, but I've heard this isn't just Sprint. I also had problems on the coast back when I lived in Corvallis, but it's been radically improved in the past few years. I've had billing problems with Sprint a few times in the past decade, but had more problems (lost messages, dropped calls, crappy phones, people saying VM never came up or the phone just didn't ring) in the first month when I had AT&T, then went to cancel under their 30-day trial policy and they told me I was on day 31 so had to stay or pay. So if I had to leave Sprint I'd go to Verizon, but I won't hide my anti-AT&T bias.

I don't know about the Hood RIver Co-OP ,probably good folks also
but Gorge .net
IS kiter started and kiter owned by some great folks that live in the Hood

both have been extremely helpful. Gorge.net is going to talk with the Port about wi-fi for the event site.

I have HREC wireless internet service and it is flawless!!! I highly recommend. Been a subscriber for 5 years, great staff, service and very economical! Compare that to other Gorge-based providers. 541-354-1233
